Suburbans and Britax

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Suburbans and Britax
By Kym on Saturday, April 2, 2005 - 04:13 pm:

I'm getting a Britax car seat, now which one? My ds will be moving to a convertible soon, but remain rear facing he's light weight but long, he turns 1 in May. I know from research that I want the Britax, but I can only find info on the roundabout fitting. Trina I checked the website you recommend and they have up to 2002 suburubans highly rated witht he roundabout. But I have 2003, and would rather have the marathon. Any search tips for me? Or any moms have a suburban, what car seat are you using, he'll be second row middle seat.

TIA

I don't have personal experience with that particular scenario, but just checked the Compatibility Database. Does the 2003 Suburban have a different bodystyle than the 2002? There is a listing for a rear facing Marathon in a 2002, but it's in an outboard position. To make things tougher, Britax has a new convertible out called the Decathlon. I saw it IRL the other day and it's NICE. Similar to the Marathon but with more padding, etc..

I'm on my way out the door, but let me ask my CPS colleagues if anyone has experience with this particular set up and I'll post back later. :)

Heidi do you have a suburban like vehicle? and if so what year?

By Trina~moderator on Sunday, April 3, 2005 - 11:04 am:

Kym, I'm still waiting on replies from my CPS friends. So far one tech said it was a difficult install in the 3rd row of a Suburban but no bites on your particular scenario as of yet. I suspect people are busy on the weekends but am hoping for more replies tomorrow. I'll keep you posted. :)

Kym, I just got a reply from my CPST Instructor, who is very experienced, and he said the Marathon should fit in your vehicle both rear and forward facing.

HTH :)

Ok, now I just need a coupon:) Thanks for your help and expertise, where do I send the check:)

LOL! Check Babyage.com and Babycatalog.com for Britax prices. Don't forget to calculate S&H charges. The Marathon is $250 at BabiesRUs but $220 at Babyage.com. Do you have a BabiesRUs near you? Go see it IRL at the store and then order it on-line and get a better deal.

Also be sure to check MV coupons/promotional codes

We have an Infinity QX4 SUV type and it fits great!
Go on www.froogle.com and you can find the best deals. Click on the left and ask it to list low to high...then go to the 2nd page or so for the seats. DON'T FORGET TO LOOK AT SHIPPING!
