Naptimes and THE SWING!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Naptimes and THE SWING!
By Heaventree on Saturday, April 2, 2005 - 04:00 pm:

I think we have finally retired the SWING! I'm so happy. DH has been after me to put Matt down for his naps in his crib. I have been reluctant because I thought it would be a battle and I like our little routine.

DH usually takes care of Matt on Saturdays so I said "Why don't you try on Saturday?"

He put Matt in the crib, he played for awhile and we noticed it was very quiet so we both crept up the stairs and little Matt was sound asleep. Aaawww - so sweet. As we went back downstairs I said to DH "I hate it when you're right!" :) He gave me a big hug.

I'm so relieved, I was worried with another baby on the way the whole nap and bedtime routine was going to be difficult. We have been rocking Matt to sleep at night, tonight we'll try just like we did twice today - keep your fingers crossed for me, I hope it works. I love rocking him to sleep but I fear I won't have time come September.

Good! You know, at 6 months, the swing had the opposite effect one day and he hated to be rocked. So, that made it easy...he fell asleep in his crib right away. Feels good to retire the swing, no?
How are you feeling right now?

Heidi, today I feel great. I went to bed at 6:00 p.m last night and slept until 11:30. Tossed and turned until 2:00 a.m., decided to get up and clean out the front hall closet, sent two bags to Good Will! Slept from 4 to 7:30 and didn't need a nap today. Horray! Maybe I'm turning that tired corner.

Feels great to retire the swing, he even went to bed on his own tonight, although DH woke him by accident and I had to rock him, it's ok though I still love it!

Natalie was the same way...one day she just started crying when I put her in the swing or just tried to climb out of it. Then she just started napping in her crib. Such a nice feeling.
