We had Blake's conference this afternoon. He is in a 4 yr preschool class this yr. I had tossed the idea of holding him back around for a long time. Today the teacher recommended he go into the *Bridge* class next Fall and not start Kindergarten.

Seems he is very social and has no interest in anything other than playing outside. (ok maybe thats exaggerating just a tad) We were all in agreement and we pre enrolled him so we are guaranteed a spot next Fall. Phew! I am glad thats all over with.

{{{{{Conni}}}}} I know this decision has been on your heart for a while. I think you'll be glad you did it in the long run. Like I've said before, I wish I'd waited a year for Robin to start school. He's doing great academically, but he's one of the youngest in his class, and it shows. Now I'm facing the thought of sending a 17 1/2yo to college in another 6 years. Scary thought. I just hope he decides to go to a local school so we can keep an eye on him! lol :) I'm sure Blake will do wonderful in the "bridge" class. :) (although I still can't believe he's 4 already!!!)

Conni, you know I have BTDT. I want to reassure you that you made the right decision. :)

The hardest part is making the decision to hold them back. After that, it's smooth sailing for everyone. :)

Sounds to me like wise parents, wise teachers - best decision all round.

Hi Conni, I would agree is Ginny, it's not a bad thing and sounds like a good decision. One of my best friends teaches a bridge class and from the things she's told me, it really helps getting the kids ready for Kindergarten verses just enrolling them in and having them possibly getting overwhelmed and frustrated.
