Poor DD

She's been sick off and on since my last post. After her getting sick following playgroup it didn't last for even a week. Then about 3 days later she started running a temperature, it was 103.2 at one point. I could never get it to go below 102 no matter whether I was using Tylenol or Motrin. Well finally the fever is gone (thank God, that was scary) but now shes waking up 3-4 times a night crying as if she has a tummy ache. I don't know if she does but she tries to sleep and cries every few minutes and rolls around as if shes uncomfortable. Then 2 nights ago (as the fever was going away) she woke up at midnight crying so I let her sleep with me. She was thirsty and drank 1 1/2 sippy cups of milk. (Which is odd since she drink one before bed.) Then 1/2 hour later (while sleeping with me) she woke up and kinda gagged a little and asked for her sippy. I brought her downstairs and was pouring one when she just stsrted vomiting milk curds everywhere, at least 5-6 times she vomited. I though I was going to have to take her to the ER. Is there anything I can give her if her tummy is upset? I know shes ready for a good nights sleep and I sure am but i'm worried about her. I called the Dr. and they had no appts til later this week and didnt seemed concerned about her symptoms, just said give her Motrin. Anyone ever experience this? I want my baby to feel better.

Poor thing..I know this sounds kind of weird, but when my dd is like that (and she has been before, you are not alone) I nurse her back to health like I would an adult...Chicken noodle soup works really good for her and Gatorade or even pedialyte since she had a fever. And maybe just sit with her on the couch and watch a movie with her or read books to her. Playing is not a good idea, IMO..(like running and jumping, etc.) No greasy foods just light foods, and not alot of milk..maybe a couple cups a day if that, it will not hurt her for a few days to not have milk. The milk will only make her stomache more upset, and then throw up.

I am so sorry you are going through this. I hope she gets better soon! (((hugs)))

My ds is awful when he is sick. He can't keep anything on his stomach and especially milk. Water is even not good for him. We start out with a little pediolyte mixed with gatorade. As he keeps it down I give him more. There is also something called Emetrol for upset stomaches. We have tried it with so so luck but I have heard other people say its wonderful. My ds just can't keep anything down when he is sick so it didn't work so great for him. I hope she feels better. I think I would try to call your doctor back and push to get her in. If they have any cancellations the least they could do is call.

My dd has alot of issues with sickness (she has seen an immunologist because of it), so I understand the long times being sick. She has now been sick for 6 weeks or so this spell--just like yours, as soon as she gets better (or while she is sick with something else) she gets another symptom/s. She had two different times a few weeks before Christmas where she was throwing up, but thankfully alot of the times she would somehow warn me with her crying that it was coming and we would get to the tub (she is 20 months). When she would want to drink, we started Sprite--mixed with some water. She liked it and it usually did pretty good on her stomach. I hope your dd gets to feeling better soon!

I know you can give Maalox to an infant. I had to give it to my son until the gastro told me that gaviscon is better for reflux. You might be able to check with your doc and see if she can have somethig like that to help settle her tummy. Hope she feels better.

Poor baby! I hope she starts feeling better soon!

We are going through the same thing! It is rough! ((HUG)) For DD, a little bit of Coke or Gingerale helps to settle her tummy. Then, I just follow her cues. If she asks for milk, then I give it. If she wants a popsicle, I give it. Hang in there!

Yogurt and blueberries are a natural remedey for naseau. I always give my kids a spoonful or two of blueberry yogurt. It is actually they only time they eat that now and they claim it makes them feel MUCH better. I do know they very rarely throw up more than once.

I tried Kaye's blueberry yogurt cure one of the last times my dks were sick and it worked! Easy enough thing to try and most kids like yogurt, even when they are sick.

Hey Kaye, you wanna come make DD like yogurt? :) She hates the stuff and I have no idea why! Maybe i'll syringe it in her mouth like her medicine, lol! I'm evil! :)

By Kaye on Saturday, January 8, 2005 - 07:12 pm:

Buy the kid type yogurt and not the stuff you would eat, it is ALOT sweeter and they like it! also they make drinkable yogurt or frozen yogurt that is worth trying.
