Too Early!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2005: Too Early!

Christopher has been waking up at 5 or 5:30 for the past few days. I can't handle it! It's still dark outside! He's still tired, I'm still tired, no one wins!
He goes to bed on time (8:30)... and the house is quiet until seven so nothing should be waking him up... *sigh* hopefully things will get back to normal.

My dd did this for a while--same time of morning as yours. And it seemed like the later we put her down (trying to make her sleep in), the earlier she would get up. But after a month or two she started sleeping in a little more--something between 6:30 and 7:30 each day. Definitely better! I hope he gets back on a regular schedule for you.

I don't know wha it is, but my 19 month old did this for a while and it seems like it took her forever to get back to sleep, but she did this to me at 3 in the morning. :( I ended up taking her in the livingroom and laying with her on the couch until she fell back asleep, and now she is back to her regular sleeping pattern. 9:30 to 8:30. I am wondering if she didn't just need me to comfort her for a few nights. who knows, but I am glad it is over, and we can all get some rest now.

I hope things work out with Christopher, maybe it will soon pass. Good Luck.

My little one does this also, she is 11mo. We put her down at 7pm and she is up at sometimes 5am. but normally between 5:30 and 6am. We've also tried putting her to bed later but that also didn't work. We have found that if we ignor her for a while she'll start to play in her bed and be okay until 7am. Her bedroom is right off ours so I hear everything. Sometimes she'll allow us to ignor her and sometimes she wont. She also naps at 9am, and 2pm. She sleeps a lot during the day. I have tried to take away one of her naps but the world would end! she needs those naps.
So I guess we are on McKenzee's schedule

I have also tried keeping him awake later, and making him miss a nap (he takes 3 short ones or two long ones) but he is too cranky and it never works. I guess we have to follow his schedule. Wouldn't it be nice if we could get them to do what we want? LOL

Well... I couldn't get him to go to sleep last night until 10:00. Then he STILL woke up at 5. I could tell he was exhausted so we cuddled on the couch and watched tv for awhile and then I put him to sleep. He slept until 7:30, not too bad.
