My new job is a WIN/WIN!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: My new job is a WIN/WIN!
By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, October 30, 2004 - 10:19 am:

I got my first paycheck, and started doing the math. Add 401K contribution amount to net of previous job paycheck to get accurate comparison, then subtract what I'm not paying for train/parking, and although my new salary is actually 8% less gross salary - what with no train/parking and no city wage tax, I actually come out $15 ahead every two week pay period. Plus, I am not buying lunch out as there's no place near, but two microwaves, two LARGE refrigerators and a stove in the lunch room, so I'm spending half as much (or less) for lunch. So this will easily balance out the extra wear and tear on the car, gas, and any increased insurance cost for increased mileage.

And the people are so nice, especially my bosses. I feel so much better. I hadn't realized how much I hated going to work at the old job or how afraid I was of my boss until I started this new job. I'm sleeping well, eating well, and just generally happy.

The only downside is that because I'm driving 20-30 minutes each way instead of riding the train, I'm getting less reading time.

All in all, it is a WIN/WIN/WIN.

It's great that you are happy and you will be "making" more money. It makes such a difference in your life when you are happy with your work.

Ginny, that's great!!! Wear and tear on your car is a LOT easier to repair/replace than wear and tear on you. Hugs! :)
