Gross rant

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Gross rant
By Melana on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 12:43 pm:

Ok, so today I was supposed to have a Dr. appt. and that didn't happen, my husband didn't get home in time and I over slept anyway. The gross part is that when I went to get Alexis up from her nap she had gotten her diaper off and had handfulls of it's contents and had EATEN some of it!!!! Needless to say the day has not started out all that well, lol.

By Tonya on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 12:47 pm:

Yuck did you call the Dr to see if that will hurt her? That doesn't sound safe?!

Hope you day goes better. You just made me stop eating my lunch.

By Melana on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 12:52 pm:

lol, I'm sorry Tonya, haven't called her Dr. about it, I don't think it's going to hurt her, but still, it's GROSS!

By Kittycat_26 on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 01:19 pm:

It is gross, I agree and somehow I try to deal with it as just part of the learning experience. Timmy is two and has just recently sampled this delicacy.

By Emily7 on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 01:35 pm:

I have yet to have the experience...I hope this is one that i get to skip!

By Palmbchprincess on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 02:18 pm:

That's awful!! Shane did this many times. He liked to fingerpaint... drove me nuts!! No harm, no matter how gross it is!

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 02:36 pm:

Ewwww. My kids never played with or sampled their poop!

By Cakekisses324 on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 03:02 pm:

Ewww, yuk, you poor thing..

By Bellajoe on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 03:29 pm:

EEEEW! My ds liked to fingerpaint with it too, i think we found a bit of it by his mouth once also...so gross.

I don't think i would hurt her either, i doubt once she tried it she went back for seconds! BLAH!

By Tink on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 08:45 pm:

My ds went through a *finger-painting* stage and would even hold it until his nap when he would be unsupervised. He did it off and on for a few months. I don't think he ate it, though. Yucky! Did you want to Lysol his mouth? I would NOT be encouraging the kisses today. LOL

By Melana on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 08:51 pm:

I seriously thought of some mouthwash, LOL...but no, I just brushed her teeth really well. I didn't realize what it was at first though, and I actually took it out of her hand! I thought somehow she had gotten a hold of brown paper or something, that's what it looked like at first glance anyway.....I wil NEVER make that mistake again, LOLOL.

By Rayanne on Thursday, September 30, 2004 - 10:25 pm:

Rylee hasn't done this and Ihope that she doesn't, for my sake. My parent's always remind me of the time that I did it though. I had it everywhere, I fingerpainted and footie painted on the walls too. (BLUSHING)

By Hdelfuego on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 08:43 am:

Oh my gosh! How old are they when they do this? I want to be prepared. I can't even imagine how I would respond to that. No one has ever really mentioned this part of parenting to me. Just one question...WHY? Anyway, Emma's one and I hope we skip this stage too. I'm sorry that anyone would have to deal with that. EEWWWW

By Cat on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 11:24 am:

Oh, yes. We've had a "sponge painting" incident as well. Robin was 3, Randy was 1 and they were both covered, as were their walls, closet and several toys. I had a friend over at the time and she kept me sane throughout the entire incident. She had a little brother (about 12 years younger) that had pulled something similar. She helped me clean it all up and laughed the entire time. It took me a LONG time to laugh about that. ha ha, ha ha...

By Marcia on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 01:46 pm:

Just a quick word of advice - overalls or onesies under clothes, and sleepers on backwards at night!!! :o)

By Debbie on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 01:53 pm:

Thank God, neither one of my boys did this. I know my Mom always talks about how my brother did this when he was little. Gross!!!

By Eve on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 02:16 pm:

Eeeew! Mom's are so underpaid! LOL!:)

By Katherine on Friday, October 1, 2004 - 08:43 pm:

I used to know something was up when Scotty would get quiet. He was poopie painting, too! It is so funny to hear that other kids do this. I thought I just had a weird kid. I figured it was because I put him in pullups too early. He was about 2. I had to wash all of his toys, well pretty much everything with Clorox on a regular basis. LOL! :)

By Pamt on Saturday, October 2, 2004 - 10:19 am:

LOL Eve! I agree...yuk! My kids never got into poop, but I was peed on a lot during diaper changes....boys! *rolls eyes*

By Melana on Saturday, October 2, 2004 - 03:02 pm:

Hd, my daughter is 13 months old, she's done this before, but DH was the one getting her up then! LOL.....yeah, her crib was scrubbed in bleach. I hope it doesn't happen a whole lot. I think though that if I keep a onsie or some pants on her at all times she'll be ok.

By Karen~moderator on Sunday, October 3, 2004 - 09:54 am:

My mom *claims* I fingerpainted with poop when I was a child. Not moi!!!! I MUST have been a perfect child! ROFL NOT! Some kids are apparently fascinated with it that way. My sister's son found the kitty litter box and was chomping down on what she thought was a Tootsie Roll - well, it was the variety left behind by her cat!!!

By Cocoabutter on Monday, October 4, 2004 - 12:28 am:

I used to babysit for a friend of mine whose dd did that when she was 2. They resorted to TAPING her diaper on her with plastic packaging tape!

It worked!

But then, they decided to potty train her!

By Kittycat_26 on Monday, October 4, 2004 - 07:53 am:

I should have known when I read this post last week that it would happen to me again soon. Sunday morning, my DH went in to wake Timmy up and there he was just smearing away. Walls, sheet, pillow, covers, stomach, arms, legs, you name it and it was there. Duct tape is sounding really good right about now.

By Melana on Monday, October 4, 2004 - 12:20 pm:

what about pullups? I know they make them in a 1T, a friend of mine started using them when her son went through this stage.
