My baby started pre school

My dd 3 started preschool today. She was so funny. She refused to let me even take her to school even for the first day. She wanted to ride the bus. I even offered to take her out to lunch, nothing doing she was riding the bus. She about drove me crazy this morning because she goes in the afternoon. She could just not understand why her brother went in the morning and she had so long to wait. I swear she asked me every five minutes. I tried to keep her busy with reading and puzzles and stuff. She also did not understand why she was not eating lunch at school like Chase. It took everything I could do to convince her she could not put her sandwhich in her bag and take it to school. My mil and I thought she must not really understand that I don't get on the bus to. Because she is usually very much a mommy's girl. I explained it to her and she said she knew it was by herself. When the bus came she got right on like a pro. I guess I should be happy she is happy but it would have been nice to take her the first day.

Kinda gets you right in the heart, huh? Most parents have the opposite problem - their kids cry and don't want to be left in that new situation.

When Jen was in preschool, there was a very independent little girl in her class, sounds just like your DD. I would walk my kids up to the door, go in, help them get their stuff settled in their cubbies, kiss them goodbye. They both cried for a couple weeks when they started going, and I left them there.

This little girl in Jen's class would get out of her mom's car, tiny little backpack on, carrying her lunchbox (which actually had her breakfast in it LOL) and walk away and not look back. All throughout school she was one of the *leaders* in the class, and was on prom committees, class president, etc. Maybe your DD will be like that.

My ds had no problem adjusting to going to school either. I was a bit sad about it but I'd much rather have it this way than for him to be heartbroken. He even helps out the kids that are sad about their parents leaving. Just think...we've raised kids that are so well-adjusted that they are secure going into a new environment! I think it is a great indicator of how I've parented! LOL Of course, if he had been upset I would have thought that I had done a great job of raising a child that was attached to me and was loving and comfortable showing his emotions! :)

my dd starts preschool on Thursday. She too is really excited. No bus for her though. How did your dd do at her first day of school?
