Activities for 3 1/2 year old

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Activities for 3 1/2 year old
By Nicosmom on Sunday, August 8, 2004 - 03:41 pm:

My ds is 3 and a half and I was wondering what type of activities should I get him into? Eventually I want him to take piano, but is he still too young? I was thinking of gymnastics. Has anyone had their son in anything like this? I need some ideas b/c I feel like he needs more socialization with kids his age. He goes to pre-school 2 days a week but I don't feel like this is enough. School is another issue though. He dreads going and I don't understand this. I'm so afraid that he is going to be shy like I was. I was in dance, modeling and other things but I always ended up quitting due to my shyness. Sorry to ramble. Any advice?

My daughter is 5 yrs old and loves gymnastics! She started around 3..She doesnt do it all the time. But, its great for the young ones gets alot of that energy to good use.
Also, Ive always taken her to storytime at the library, as well as Barnes and Nobles(if you have one)..

Gymnastics is great! So is karate. Story time is a great idea. Many of the moms bring their kids each week and it can set up great opportunities for play groups.

Our dd is almost 3.5 and is in gymnastics. She loves it! There are three little boys in the class and one other girl. All the kids have a great time.

Most activities take kids as young as three.
Dance, piano, karate, gymnastics, singing groups and on and on!!
I bet he would have lots of fun :)

Gymnastics is very fun.

Sports time has sports classes for three year olds. Fun. They start to learn sports.

Tiger Shulman (sp?) has karate for 3 and 1/2 year olds. Expensive. (30 dollars a lesson)

I called the piano place around here and they said they took them at 5, I think...

Does the town have a rec center? What is going on there?

Library might have a story time with play time or a toy time. Check 5 libraries for free activities. You might be very surprised. Toy time can be very fun.
