School doesn't start soon enough!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: School doesn't start soon enough!!
By Bellajoe on Thursday, July 29, 2004 - 11:13 am:

My kids are driving me crazy! I used to wonder why mom's look forward to school starting, now i know why! They are constantly fighting with each other, and they are only 3 and 5. I can't even tell you how many times they have screamed and ended up crying and then come to me and whine, Joey did this, Bella hit me blah blah blah. And that is only today! and it is only 11:00a.m.! I finally just sent them both to their rooms for all of us to have some quiet time and they STILL won't be quiet! ARGH! I need some serious Exedrine right now! Sorry to complain but i just needed to get it off my chest.

By Tink on Thursday, July 29, 2004 - 12:04 pm:

I totally understand. Both of my oldest are in school and the weekends are still enough to send me to a padded room. My dks are better if we are outside. Can you take a book outside and read while they go bug-hunting or roll around on the grass? That's the easiest way for me to find some sanity when they are driving me down the short road to Crazyville.

There is an old commercial on TV right about this time of year. It has a "Mommy" dancing in the "Back to School" aisle and the music is "It's The Most Wonderful Time of The Year."

Also, this year there's one with Alice Cooper and I (guess) his daughter. They are "back to school" shopping and the daughter says, "I thought the song said, "School's out FOREVER" and Alice Cooper turns and corrects her: "NO, it says "school's out for SUMMER!"

Too funny!

Audrey I love that commercial with Alice Cooper.

My kids are doing okay, yet. In fact, they are both upstairs on Sarah's computer playing Petz (computer game where you own and breed dogs and cats.) They are getting along well, today.

They can't wait to go school shopping. They like getting their new stuff!

By Sue3 on Thursday, July 29, 2004 - 04:19 pm:

I`ve had it with my kids and I am sure that they have had it with each other! LOL!
One more month! It will come up quick.I took the kids blueberry picking today to break up the day.I think it helps to keep busy
and get away from the house, but then the house never gets cleaned. You just can`t win !AHHHHHH!
Tess just now came up to me to tattle on Anna for making a weird face at her and Zack is in his bed till Dad gets home for hitting his sister Anna.
like I said before , AHHHHHH !

By Sue3 on Thursday, July 29, 2004 - 04:25 pm:

Emily ,I have not sen the Alice cooper commercial yet though I have heard that it is good.
Can`t wait to see it.
Also I love your little clip art slogan,
that saying has been going through my head for the last week.
If calgon doesn`t take me away I hope something else does!
Now the girls are throwing apples at each other and Tess got Anna in the head!!
Now they are all going to to their beds till Dad gets home!

Would you hate it if I told you that both of my kids and my DH are out of town tonight? It's quiet and peaceful around here *eg* (well, except for kitty fights)

By Emily7 on Friday, July 30, 2004 - 12:15 am:

Pam you know how to make enemies. LOL:)

By Conni on Friday, July 30, 2004 - 09:25 am:

I am not ready for mine to go back to school. They arent perfect--dont get me wrong, they do have there moments!!! I am stressing right now about whether to put my oldest in a private christian school that would be money I am not use to spending. I am also considering putting my youngest into a preschool that is 5 mornings a week. I like the curriculum and the teachers, I am just not sure if I should sign him up at age 4 to go every morning of the week??????????? aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I just dont know what to do and my dh and my ex are NEVER any help. lol

On a totally different subject, I have my final exam next week and couldnt be MORE THRILLED that my summer class is over. ugh

By Debbie on Friday, July 30, 2004 - 11:38 am:

Conni, my oldest went to preschool 5 mornings a week when he was 4. I wanted to do it because Kindergarten was going to be all day and I wanted him to get used to going each day. I was worried that it would be too much, but he LOVED it.

Well, I know I am going to make enemies, but my boys (ages 4 & 6) have been great this summer. They are really enjoying playing together. We do get out a lot though which helps. I try to swim, go to the park, etc at least 3 times a week. They are both in camp together for the next couple of week and they like going together. I hope this continues as they grow up

By Marcia on Friday, July 30, 2004 - 04:33 pm:

I'm not ready for mine to go back yet. They don't go back til Sept 7th anyway. We're all really enjoying this mellow time together!

By Mommyathome on Friday, July 30, 2004 - 05:17 pm:

I have mixed feelings. It depends on the moment! Earlier today I would have *loved* to have my girls in school. They were really getting on each others nerves.
But, overall, we've had a fairly peaceful summer. I enjoy having them home. The time goes by so fast when they are at school everyday. By the next summer, they are a year older and have changed so much. That is sad for me.
