Teething?!?

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: Teething?!?
By Jelygu on Monday, July 5, 2004 - 11:01 pm:

My seven month old has recently been waking up at night crying inconsolably (sp?). He isn't hungry, he is wet/dirty, and he isn't running a fever. I have to pick him up and console him for a little while, and then he eventually goes back to sleep. He isn't abnormally fussy during the day, and he naps just fine. I was just wondering if he could be teething and the pain gets worse at night? This is my first child so I have never gone through this before! Any advice would be helpful!

My 18 month old is going through this and yes I believe that is what it is. I give him Tylenol drops at night and he is waking up every 4 hours or so...when the drops where off. Try giving yours some pain reliever and see if he doesn't rest better, you can put a numbing cream on when he wakes up for immediate relief and that will work until the Pain reliever kicks in.

Best of Luck!

It could possibly be. Some people say it isn't true but I don't believe them. My daughter did this at night too. I found that while she was teething I gave her Tylenol before bed and it usually helps and if she does wake up I put a little Orajel on her pacifier and give it to her and she sleeps just fine. (((HUGS))) to you, I hope your little boy gets better. For my DD it only lasted maybe 2 nights (I guess when the teeth were trying to poke through the most.)
