We're going to see the Pediatrician :(

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive July-December 2004: We're going to see the Pediatrician :(

I thought DD was getting better, apparently not. She has been coughing so much that it's hard for her to get to sleep. Even after she went to bed last night I went in to make sure she was snug just as I do every night and there was vomit in her bed. I cleaned it up and changed the bedding and put her back to sleep. Yesterday her nap was only 45 minutes (30 minutes of me holding her which is rare because she always wants her crib) and she only had one nap. She has no temperature and hasn't for the last week shes been sick. I've given her Motrin, Tylenol Cold and Cough and Dimetapp and nothing is helping. So, we're heading to the dr. today for some "magic".

Poor thing. How did the ped. appt. go? Does anyone in your family have asthma?

By Amy~moderator on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 06:56 pm:

How did the appointment go? I hope everything is alright and Kaitlyn starts to feel better.

Both of my kids have had this "cough" thing, too. It has been especially rough on the three month old. DD (age 4) has asthma and it has been rough on her as well. Our doc said it was just a virus and there was nothing we could do but wait it out. I am interested to know what your doctor had to say. My whole family has had it (including my parents and in-laws) and we are not sure who gave it to who. It has lasted at least three to four weeks as far as I know for everyone. DD is finally sleeping at night and we went to the doctor for hers on June 4. Hope everything went well...I am anxious to hear what your doc said.

Back from the doctor. DD vomited again on the ride there. My poor baby. The doc said the main concerns were either an ear infection or pneumonia but he checked and she has neither thank God! I guess its just a common cold that won't go away. They gave her some Actifed Syrup (Pseudoephedrine and Triprolidine HCI) and Saline Drops as well for her nose. The Actifed will make her drowsy which is what I think she needs to get some sleep. I guess i'll should start to see a difference in a few days. I'll update you girls later.... :) (BTW- thanks for all the well thoughts and concerns)

One thing that helped Rylee sleep through the night when she was sick was a humidifier.

By Coopaveryben on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 11:17 pm:

I use the cool mist all the time when my kids are sick, it really does help.

I'm glad to hear it wasn't anything serious.

Poor little thing. So hard on Mommy to watch their little one suffer so much. Hope you are both doing better soon.

By Dawnk777 on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 - 11:45 pm:

Poor baby. (poor mommy too.) Hope she is feeling better soon. I'm glad it was nothing more serious.

How is Kaitlyn feeling today?

How are you doing?

By Boxzgrl on Thursday, July 1, 2004 - 06:01 pm:

She's doing better today. Her medicine seems to be slowly improving her cough. Shes actually napping right now and didn't "cough" herself to sleep. I'm doing well. I'm enjoying her naptime with time for myself since i've been "Supermom" for her this last week. Thanks for asking! :)
