Bragging on my boys

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2004: Bragging on my boys
By Pamt on Friday, June 18, 2004 - 12:44 am:

I have recently started having pretty bad periods with bad cramps, stomach upset, and passing blood clots. Don't worry...I'm calling my doctor tomorrow to bump up my annual visit. I do have 2 small fibroids and I think they might be causing the problems. Anyway, I started my period today AND I have had a bad headache all day since about 10 this morning. On top of it all, I had to work all day too...with small, active children. My head was throbbing all day long. I got home from work and cooked supper. My DH had a youth event tonight and left right after supper---he is feeling very crummy too. :( Anyway, I told my boys that I needed to go lay down and asked them if they could handle everything. They are 7 and 10 y/o. I made a list for them and together they cleared the table and loaded the dishwasher, took baths, picked up the living areas of the house, fixed themselves a bedtime snack (and cleaned it up which I didn't tell them to), got in bed at 8:00 and then read until 8:30 with lights out. They didn't bother me one time and they weren't loud. The only "interruption" was my 7 y/o coming in to tell me that he finished reading his 2nd chapter book ever and he wanted to give me a goodnight kiss.

I am so proud that I have thoughtful boys who were considerate enough to let me rest and mature enough to go above and beyong the duty. :)

P.S. My head is still killing me though and I can't sleep.

I'm so sorry that you are feeling so badly. What a blessing that they are mature enough and compassionate enough to give you the time you needed. You must have done a great job raising them! :) I'm glad to hear that you are going to see the doctor about this. I hope tomorrow is a better day.

That is wonderful because we all know our children are not born trained this way so you must be doing something right with them. :)

I'm sorry you were not feeling well, but it's so nice to hear that your boys are so responsible and considerate. What are you putting in their juice? (Just kidding).
Hope you're feeing better and kudos to you and your husband on such good parenting.

Ame
