Proud Mama post...end of school year.

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2004: Proud Mama post...end of school year.
By Dana on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 - 10:50 am:

DD just finished Kindergarten. She came how with a perfect report card (no grades, just how many correct answers out of possible answers--perfect scores), perfect attendance for the 2nd semester, ALMOST got National Athletic award, was awarded citizen of the YEAR, got awards for reading, jog-a-thon money collection and a glowing report on her speech IEP.

She is so sad to leave her K teacher, but sounds excited about being a 1st grader. I asked if she was feeling like a 1st grader and she replied, "well.....um...I think so. I can feel my whole insides changing from kindergarten to 1st grade! I'm gonna be ready!"

So precious.

Mommy will miss kindergarten, too.

WTG !! :)

YOu have reason to be proud. Did she go a full day in Kindergarten or will the start of first grade be the start of full day?

By Trina~moderator on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 - 07:28 pm:

WTG, A! :)

Very bittersweet, Dana, isn't it? My DD doesn't get out of Kindergarten until June 21st but I'm having a hard time with my "baby" starting school full day next year.

By Ilovetom on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 - 09:15 pm:

Awww enjoy. My oldest is a junior in college. *sob*

I teach preschool and I miss all my babies this week too.

By Melanie on Wednesday, May 19, 2004 - 09:19 pm:

Awwww...her insides are changing! Does it get any sweeter than that?

I can't believe her first year is done already. It feels like you just posted about her first day!

I am so happy to hear she had such a great first year. That just lays the foundation for the coming years. :)

Ladypeacek, good luck to your DD. I'm sure you will be posting soon with her scores!

Emily, K is full day here. I am so glad it is summer. She had to be at school by 7:30AM everyday! The good part, she was home at 2p.

Everyone else, thanks for the nice comments. It's been a really long time since I posted here to any extent, so it's nice to still feel like part of the MV family.

Perhaps w/ the summer schedule I will have more "chat" time. However, I have been trying very hard to do the flylady thing. For those who have tried, you know how difficult it can be getting into it. Someday's I do great, and others I sit and refuse to do any work. But spending time on the puter is very much limited these days.

Wow!!! You have every right to feel proud. So glad that your DD had a great first year of school and her comment about her insides changing is just priceless!
