Too young for allergies????

Well i'm not sure if it is allergies but it seems that way to me. Since we left the desert 2+ months ago and moved to the beach, Kaitlyn has had a horrible runny nose and lately it has been a thick, yellowish mucousy discharge. She wakes up congested in the am but her nose is still runny and is runny ALL day long, ever since the move.

What does that sound like to you???

Nothing to do with this really but since weve moved, i've had congested days and i've been coughing up mucous everyday since the move as well. I know i'll have to have it checked but Kaitlyn comes first then maybe i'll find time for me.

But to me it seems like both of us have allergies. Thats all I figure it could be.....

My two year old was on Zyrtec for allergies last year. It's not to young. Nasal symptoms that last more than two weeks should be checked by a doc. It could be a sinus infection.
Hope you both feel better.

Oh so sorry for the poor thing but unfortunatly she isn't too young. Thankfully they do have meds for her age to help her out! Until you get to the dr maybe try a vicks vaporizer or humidifier in her room to help her breathe! Hope you feel better too!

My sons had allergies, I would take them to the doctor and they would say they are too young and can't have allergies until after 2. I think said that because most kids grow out of them. But they would prescribe Benadryl..hmmm isn't that allergy medicine? Anyway, that is what it sounds like to me.

It could be allergies. Also moving from a very dry climate to a very humid one is probably what's causing it. We lived in Panama for 2 1/2 years and I had sinus infections probably about 2/3 of the time there. LOTS of molds and stuff floating around in the air. Shoot, my mom visited us for 2 weeks and got a sinus infection about the third day of her visit. I'd go ahead and get it checked out (for both of you) but it may just take your body getting used to a new environment. Good luck. :)

Her temp is fine so i'm not too concerned with that. I did make her an appt. but they cant see her til Monday so we'll just have to wait. I'll just continue wiping her poor red nose a billion times a day.

Thanks for the advice ladies, i'll give you an update when the doc sees her!

My son has allergies, he is allergic to everything!! His started when he was very young. But my ped. says if the nose is running clear its allergies, any color usually means a infection. You are best to have it checked.
Good Luck.
