Has anyone watched....

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2004: Has anyone watched....
By Kernkate on Sunday, March 7, 2004 - 09:21 pm:

the new show on PBS called the Boohbah??? I saw it for the first time the other day,and in my opinion it is the worse childrens show I have ever seen! I thought the Teletubbies were bad but the Boohbah are worse!!! I can not make any sense out of.

I haven't heard of this. But now I am curious so will have to look for it. lol!

By Fraggle on Monday, March 8, 2004 - 09:37 am:

I only saw a few minutes of it-it looks pretty dumb. I think it is supposed to be about movement, but I think there are better ways of getting kids up and moving and using their imagination than watching some blobs on the TV.

I have caught a glimpse of it, and turned it off. It lookeds as bad as the Teletubbies.

We watched about two minutes and that was enough for us! There are some kids shows that daycare kids may watch at their houses, but will never watch at mine. This will be one of the. Others are Barney, Teletubbies, and SpongeBob. There are more that I won't let kids watch here (either because they're just too stupid or for content--some kids shows aren't for kids), but I can't think of them all right now.

My ds (31/2) loves this show for some reason.....it is all just blobby colours and glittery things....

It's wierd because it is obviously a show for little tiny kids....

but he seems to like it anyways.....

i saw the show for a couple of minutes, and have no idea what they're trying to do. my son said thay look like candy drops, though. so maybe they got backing from a candy company. lol

By Babysitbarb on Monday, March 8, 2004 - 01:50 pm:

Is this the show that has these 5 diferent colored things that jump around and don't make any since? I have seen it on early in the morning and never knew what it was called and it reminds me of the teletubbies and I think their very stupid. I don't hardly even let the daycare kids watch shows like these anymore.

By Kernkate on Monday, March 8, 2004 - 02:53 pm:

Barb, that is the show. They don't look like anything...I guess you have to be a kid to really enjoy it???

By Coopaveryben on Monday, March 8, 2004 - 03:05 pm:

I am so glad someone brought this up, I HATE THAT SHOW. First off, I don't think they should gear shows to children under 1....I think this one is or at least I hope it is. From what I saw it doesn't teach anything. As annoying as Barney can be it makes you appreciate him more than words can say.

By Carolk on Monday, March 8, 2004 - 03:38 pm:

I agree Coop. Barney is 100 times better and far less annoying. My son(4)watches Dragon Tales in the morning and BooBah comes on after, and he only saw about 2 minutes and he told me that this show is dumb. Now for some reason whenever my 10 month old dd hears the music she turns right toward the tv. It's almost like the show is hypnotic. She just sat there and stared at it. That's when I knew it was time to turn the channel. If a dumb cartoon can hold a 10 month old child's attention for more than 5 minutes, it must be evil. lol

Boohbah Information

Boohbah Website

I think it looks stupid. I'm going to have to set my vcr to tape this one, since at 7:30am, I'm in the middle of driving kids to school.

My 11yo dd went to the Boohbah website and thought it looked like a creepy show.

Teletubbies isn't much better since they barely speak any English. My sister adopted a little boy from Guatemala when he was three. She wouldn't let him watch Teletubbies because she didn't want him learning their speech.
