DS doesn't like the special underwear he picked out over the weekend.

Ahhh!

I went through this so many times with Jessica. We finally got her potty trained this spring(she is 4). I am hoping that maybe one day I will get Chad done(he's 2 1/2). How is Your DS doing overall with the potty training?

By Feona on Wednesday, June 4, 2003 - 05:04 pm:

Slow potty training. He doesn't want to sit on the potty. Sticker brides are working alittle.

He like the underwear today. He is wearing them now, but he doesn't tell me when he has to go. I need to be more consistant with the training too.

What if you let him pick out 2 sets of new underwear.

Like...one package of scooby doo (or whatever)
and another package of superman (or whatever)

Then, he can have a choice for the day. Like, "today would you like to wear the scooby ones or the superman ones?" That way it makes it seem as if he's in charge of the situation. Not just...no I don't want to wear the underwear. But instead.....I choose the scooby ones......or I choose the Superman ones. Does that make sense? It's a little hard to put into words lol.

Good luck!!

My daughter seems to enjoy references to people or animals doing the things that she doesn't want to do. Like, eat your carrots like a bunny does. Her older cousin is her idol so I often make references to her like "Darian sleeps in her own bed..." so she will want to emulate her. Maybe you could make some comments about other big kids, grown ups, or use a favorite cartoon character. I also pointed out to my DD during training that if she had an accident that Mickey Mouse (Scooby, whoever) would bet all wet. She didn't want that to happen.

I am going through the same thing with my 2 1/2 year old son. The past few days he has wore his underwear (scooby doo or Spongebob Squarepants ) and they stayed dry most of the day. But he doesn't tell me he has to go, i just ask him and he says "o.k." and goes. So i guess i am the one that is trained here LOL.

Sorry Feona, i don't have any suggestions for you, just hang in there!

We got a potty training chart (bought from ebay) and we are using it today. He sat twice and I told him at the end of each sticker line he gets a toy.

Had to give up the underwear for now because he doesn't tell me when he has to go.

Crossing my fingers and toes.
