It sounds as if our sons are very similar. The suspect that my son had a PDD, he doesn't, they think he has a sensory issue (the school doesn't diagnose). He started receiving OT this year and with in a year has basically completely "recovered". He will get no services next year because he just doesn't need them. However, I don't think it was just the school. When we found all this out last summer it devasted me. I am special ed teacher by trade and this was not what I wanted to hear. So I did quite a bit of research and planning and I worked very hard with him all year. The biggest thing that I found I over looked it how he sits. Look at your child and see if he has good posture. When ever mine did something at a table, he leaned over pretty far. This is not really normal, little kids typically sit up straight. This is a huge sign of low tone in the back muscles. So this is where we started. I bought him a special chair, it was the right height, supported his legs at the right height etc. Also I bought a floor rug and really encouraged him to do tummy play, where he would support himself with his arms. With in 3 months he sat up straight, and when it came to holding a pencil that self corrected itself. I would have never realized just how that one thing could adversely affect his whole life. Does he still have some sensory issues? A few, but for awhile he had such a bad reaction to sounds that i couldn't flush a toilet with him in the bathroom, not a big deal at home, but HUGE in a public place! Anyway, just one more thing to look at!

This is the chair we have, it is a real shame they only show it for infants. It is completely adjustable, so I can very comfortable sit in it also.

Sorry to butt in, but I noticed a chair very much like that one at The Right Start. It's called the "ZinderZeat" and there is a special on it through May 31st. They show a preschooler sitting in it. :)
