PROUD Mama post :)

DD finally started showing an interest in letters. She's a smart little thing, but really has had no interest in learning her letters and especially trying to write anything.

Well, this past weekend she DID IT!!!!

She wrote her name for the first time! Then I made the words Mommy and Daddy for her. She did mommy once but has done daddy several times. She is writing daddy all by herself without looking at the initial example. And even more exciting she was making the /D/ sound while writing the word. So she is connecting the sound of D with the letter D and the word Daddy!

She is also very proud of herself!

After two days of writing daddy, I've convinced her that mommy is a pretty cool word too! However, daddy is still her word of choice :)

Monday we mailed a letter to daddy that said "I love you Daddy. Love Angel" She wrote it all by herself by copying the words I wrote for her. Daddy now has it hanging up at work :)

I am so thrilled.

YEAH!! Good for your DD. :) I was worried about my DD as well because DS took an interest to academics much earlier. I know I shouldn't compare kids but with her articulation delays I was concerned of the possibility of learning disabilities. Anyway, the past couple months things have really seemed to click for her. She is recognizing and writing letters and numbers and very interested about them. Whew!

That is great! Isn't it great how being a mom makes us feel the greatest feelings inside when our kids learn and grow. It is amazing!

That is awesome!! Bryce just started writing letters a few months ago and loves to fill up a whole page of words like our family's names. Its so precious.. I just wish I could keep each and everyone one of them.

I'm so proud of A :)

I had this same expierence this weekend. Just a little background on my ds Chase. He was diagnosed with hydrocephulus when he was a baby. It was not a birth defect but something that they said was probably caused during delivery. He was lucky and only had to take medication. No shunt was needed.

He has had to take speech and physical therapy since he was 15months. He had to start school days after he turned three. That is how they do it here. Easter Seals works with the kids until they are three and then the school district has to pick up the tab. We have been very lucky in that since.

Well he has come so far and he should be up to par with the rest of the kids in a couple more years. He has had to really work hard though. He is so funny. They said he could write his name once in awhile when he wants to. Everytime I asked him he wouldn't do it. Well this weekend he did! He was so proud of himself and so was my me and dh. He also went to the park and climbed over one of those rock walls which I thought looked hard for a 4.5 year old. Or maybe I am just over protective.

I am just so happy that he is doing so well. I have been so worried that he would be different then other kids his age. He is very sweet, kind and caring. Which can sometimes be things that kids will pick on and especially when you seem different. I think he is going to be fine.

BEth that is wonderful! When there are such trials for the child (and parent) it makes the success so much sweeter!
