Enlarged Tonsils & Adenoids (sp?)

Okay, specialist app't today with the ENT didn't go so well. I asked for this app't because DD has had a recurring wax build up problem since she was little. We'd realize it was bad because she would say "pardon" all the time or turn the TV up too loud. I'd put baby oil in her ears and in a few days it would be fine. One day DD said "mommy, what happens if I can't hear the teacher?" My mommy instincts said Okay, there's a bigger problem and I requested a hearing test. ENT dr has ZERO beside manners but I know he's a great dr cause he put tubes in DS's ears 2 yrs ago and any time we've been to clinics, other drs have mentioned how great the tubes are.

DD is also croup-prone. Dr said that's all related. Her croup has gotten worse the past couple of colds in that her croup appears during the day - bad cough leading to breathing problems. I'm sure they are progressively getting more enlarged.

Anyhow, can anyone give me any experiences with tonsilitis or enlarged adenoids?

Not sure what you are looking for.

My DD is 4. She has HUGE tonsils and currently suffering from loss of hearing due to fluid (which can not be seen--only noted when they do a pressure test). She did this last year as well. She can not breath at night without choking. She has a constent sinus infection. Since her first congestion with teething, she has been unable to breath at night during these episodes. Her throat is usually sore. She is a tiny eater, but as time passes I think it has more to do with the difficulty she has swollowing. She doesnt drink much either, again, I am now thinking it is due to difficulty. She is in speach therapy. I think for two reasons: first the temporary loss of hearing, second she sounds funny due to those super big tonsils in the way.

We are having the adnoids and tonsils removed on March 20! This is not soon enough for me. It is so difficult to watch my baby suffer (and she doesn't even know she is, because she thinks it's just normal since she has never felt anything different).

Have no idea if that is what you are looking for, but that is my story :). COUNTING THE DAYS!
