AGGGHH! HELP!!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2003: AGGGHH! HELP!!
By Eve on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 09:48 am:

Ok, I was writing my Christmas thank you notes and went to the bathroom. Gone maybe 2 minutes! Sydney took my blue marker and wrote on herself. ALL over her hands and her mouth!

How on earth do I get it off? I just don't think soap is gonna do it??

This is a first. No pen can be left out! LOL!

A long hot bath seemed to get it most off. Thanks anyway.

Oh, Eve, how I've BTDT with my 2yo. He has had a love affair with markers and pens for the past year and a half (he's almost three now). Sometimes it just has to wear off, but I've found that sticking him in a bubble bath (I use babywash or baby shampoo for the bubbles) and letting him play and then washing him with Dove or Ivory soap using a washcloth, but not rubbing hard (probably any regular soap would work, but that's what I have) after his skin has soaked a while helps at least fade the marks if not get them off completely. Maybe this will work for you too. Good Luck!:)

Oh {{{Eve}}}, I have BTDT SO many times. Don't worry, it fades off in a few days. :) Believe me, it's much easier to clean off a child than floors, carpeting, walls and furniture!! ARGH! B has yet to grow out of that stage. :(

Shaving Cream. I learned this trick from a friend of mine. It does work. Put her in the bath or anywhere and use the shaving cream and then wash it off with her bath soap. HTH.

BTDT, did you get pictures? It will come off eventually. Good luck!

By Melanie on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 01:51 pm:

LOL!!!! (Laughing with you, not at you, of course!)

Baby wipes work wonders on markers.

By Eve on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 02:47 pm:

Thanks for the tips! I will be remembering them all! Believe me! LOL!

The only photo I got was when I told her to show me her hands. LOL!

LOL Eve! {{{{{{{{hugs}}}}}}}} Happens to pretty much all of us. And not to worry, it WILL eventually fade off! Hey, could be worse! In 1997 Jules was living with me for a while; I left Jeff and Jen in her care to go out of town for a few days and came home to Jeff with purple/blue hair, and Jen with green stripes in the front of her hair! That was permanent, had to wait for it to grow out!

lol memories .... all kids do this wait till she cuts her hair hahaha then u really cry ..

By Janet on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 - 09:22 pm:

Thank God I never had the hair cutting stuff, but everything else...including cutting holes out of the knees on the jeans. Talk about furious! ("I fell, Mommy...really I did!") One of my favorite photos, Eve, was when Jordan was only 2 and I caught her diapering her stuffed bear--she had a pile of wipes and powder all over everything! The floor, the bear, the rug, her... I stopped laughing just long enough to get the camera, and never did punish her. I think this episode with Sydney will be one of those great memories.
