I have the best little girl!

Moms View Message Board: Parenting Discussion: Archive January-June 2003: I have the best little girl!
By Dana on Friday, January 3, 2003 - 10:01 pm:

I am so proud of my little pumpkin.

As several of you know, we have an ongoing problem w/ constipation even though she eats well balanced foods. She has had more than her fair share of enemas :( and Milk of Magnesia

Tonight, after downing some MOM the last few days (without complaints, whining, crying, hiding, etc) she was still not having regular BMs. Clearly there was another blockage :(

Last time this happened several months ago, she screamed bloody murder, ran, faught with all her might, forced DH and I to hold her down to do the enema. I was in tears, she was in tears, I was exhausted, DH was...who knows? He does his best to stay away from this stuff. After clearing a HUGE blockage, I talked to her about how sad it made me and how I hate doing this. I asked her to please not fight the next time we had to do this, if we ever needed to do it again.

Well, tonight, we needed to do it again. :( You could see the scare in her face, but she told me "okay Mommy, I'll keep my promise." and quietly laid down into the proper possition, not a tear, not a whimper and not one muscle fighting me. Then after the blockage cleared, she told me "thank you for giving me an enema. I'm feeling so much better."

I am so proud of her braveness! First just the fact that she will take MOM without a hassle and this. MY SWEET BABY! I don't think I know a single other child who would cooperate as well.

I can't even express how proud I was of her for keeping her promise to me.

BTW, we saw the dr today (again) about this problem. She is on a prescription now and a follow up appt in 2 weeks.

She is wonderful!

Oh wonderful!!!!!! (((((((Hugs to your DD)))))))
How sweet, she did that for you. Your right, no kid I know would have laid down, and been that patient with anyone with an enema.
Thats wonderful Dana......I'd be proud Mommy too:)

Awwww that poor girl and what she has to go through. She sure was a trooper and I'm so proud of her. Big ((Hugs)) to A.

(((HUGS))) to both of you! I'm sorry you all are going through this, and hope it ends soon. I'm very impressed by her maturity. Heck, I'd scream and holler at that prospect too, and I'm 20 y/o!!! What a wonderful, sweet girl she must be to have been so brave and honest! :)
