What I've just completed...

Moms View Message Board: Arts, Crafts, Gardening and Ideas: What I've just completed...

I'm really trying to finish absolutely everything in the kitchen (it's got a patriotic theme to it).

The last thing to complete was the builtin around the dishwasher. Dad always said he'd place a butcher block top on it (he has it but never put it on). Around the corner from the dishwasher is a small entrance (house built in 1902 and it was a very small doorway with nothing I can do about it).

So I have painted the top a cream color and made the girls place burgundy paint on their hands and do their hand prints on top. I painted their names and some swirls. I put two coats of polyurethane on top. On the side of the dishwasher, I made it into a chalkboard! Alyssa loves to hang out on the door step, so I thought, why not. If I get my camera battery changed, I will post pics. The last two things are painting behind the dishwasher and stove and cleaning the ceiling, Yippee, I'm almost done:)

I'll try to post a picture Robin. My digital camera has no flash, but I think you'll be able to see it...

That is so cute Marg! What a creative idea :) It looks very shiny too. That is so much fun.

It's the polyurethane, I really need to put another coat or two on it.

You know how I made the side into a chalk board, left hand side... I can't find any erasers (like they have in school):( We tried Walmart, K-mart, not a toy store yet though:(

BTW, It looks almost bloody red in the picture, but it is really a deep maroon color, I had to laugh when I saw it!

Very cute idea Marg!

Office Depot has the erasers like in school. Remember clapping them together to clean them? LOL :)

That is a cute idea...if we only didn't live in base housing, lol. As for the erasers, I would try an office supply like Staples or and Art supply.

Ditto the office supply stores :)

I remember in 5th grade I felt VERY special if I got picked to clean the erasers. Our school had gotten a fancy new eraser cleaner that was motorized. It was really great LOL
