I have several friends who have sons with older sisters who do the same thing. Their take on it is that they do it just to have their sisters play with them and give them attention. One of the littl boys has outgrown it. He just turned 6 and recently wouldn't participate in a sister's desire to do a makeover on it.

I don't have a girl, but my youngest boy tries to do everything my oldest boys do - he likes the attention and he wants to be just like them. AND he likes to put on my shoes and asks me to put some of my make-up on him (he's nearly 3yo)- all my boys did this. It's nothing to worry about, not a big deal, totally normal, all experts agree. Around age 4 is when they begin to understand that they are *boys* and identify with other boys & men.

Dramatic play is very normal for that age. Infact they encourage it at the CDC's on the base. When ds was 3, on more than one occasion when I went in to pick him up he had on some kind of dress up clothes on or was playing with a baby doll. When I was pg with dd, he put a pillow under his shirt and pretened he was pg. Very normal.

I have 2 boys and they both at times would walk around in my high heels, or play dress up of some sort. Not so much my oldest now (he is 6) but when he was 3, he certainly did it. I think it is totally normal.
