Tory Burch is an attainable, luxury, lifestyle brand defined by classic American sportswear with an eclectic sensibility, which embodies the personal style and spirit of its co-founder and creative director, Tory Burch. Perceiving a void in the market for a sophisticated American aesthetic at an accessible price point, Tory wanted to create stylish yet wearable clothing and accessories for women of all ages. It all started with a vintage tunic Tory found at a Paris flea market. She was instantly drawn to its timeless quality; it reminded her of the incredibly chic tunics her mother wore in the 60s. Influenced by her stylish parents, Tory grew up with an appreciation of fashion and designer clothing. After working in the fashion industry for over 15 years she felt that there was something missing in the market. Tory wanted to create a collection of sophisticated clothing and accessories with an eclectic feel that was both distinctive and accessibly priced. Tory began by putting together an image book. She gathered photos of her mother and father traveling abroad in the 60s and 70s, scraps of fabric, tear sheets from magazines and art books; anything and everything that spoke to what she wanted the brand to represent. In February 2004, she launched with a complete lifestyle collection at her flagship boutique in Nolita. What started as a team of four working out of Tory’s New York apartment has since become a global brand with over 400 employees worldwide. The collection is available at 35 free-standing Tory Burch boutiques across the world, Toryburch.com and at over 450 select department and specialty stores worldwide.
