A friend and I went and got matching tats. It was her first and she did great!!!

By Crystal915 on Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 01:18 pm:

Very cute!! How was the pain for that area? I have the itch, BAD!! My next one will probably be on my leg though, since right now I can only see half of mine without a mirror. LOL!

By Cat on Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 02:43 pm:

It wasn't bad, Crystal. After the first few minutes it numbed up and then there really wasn't pain--more of the sensation of someone rubbing sandpaper on your skin, but not too hard. Does that make sense? This is my fourth and the only one I need a mirror for. I should have dh take another picture of it since that pic was taken before I showered and cleaned it up really good (got the stencil off). He said it looked really good this morning. :)

That looks great.
I want to get one, but I am so terrified of it hurting.

By Crystal915 on Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 05:37 pm:

Emily, I have had 5 (one was a cover-up) and believe me, the fear of it hurting is the worst part... in my experience, the more afraid I was of the pain, the less it hurt, probably because my endorphins were rushing from the fear! It also depends on the area, certain parts hurt more than others. If you find one you really want, go for it! I'm a big wuss, and it wasn't bad, or I wouldn't have gone back for more. LOL! I'm sure Cat will agree there...

Callie had her neck done little less than two months ago. She has Proverbs 3:3, in script. Her only issue with it was on certain spots her nose ran. LOL I took Nicole in to have her first one done, Wednesday. She got a cross with wings and Psalms 13 on her calf, it is about 7 inches long by 7 inches wide, fairly big piece. I am ready to get my next one, I want to have my other foot done. Callie is wanting to have a foot done too. So when ever I come up with more money we will be headed back. We are all addicted.

Looks dood Cat..

I must be a big baby... my Aunt and I went and got one after my grandmother (her mother) passed away. My mom passed away years ago, so we went and got a tattoo in honor of both of them. I got a small pink and yellow flower (both of their favorite flowers) and a few green grapevine leaves on each side on my ankle and it hurt like all get out. It is pretty small and didn't take all that long and it really hurt!! She got two butterflies on her shoulder blade and said it didn't hurt at all. So it must be true that it depends on where you get it. I always thought I had a pretty high pain tolerence, but that made me wonder. LOL

Bobbie, how old is Nicole? Is she one of your twins who are about eleven? I didn't think a tattoo place would do eleven year olds.... Or do I have the wrong child in mind?

By Crystal915 on Sunday, December 7, 2008 - 10:20 pm:

Vicki, I don't have one on my ankle, but I'm told that spot hurts because it's over bone, not a lot of cushion. I have one on my forearm that I barely felt, and my first one was on my shoulder (also didn't really hurt) but the one that covers it goes from the inside of each shoulder blade, and I cried like a baby! I told my artist I thought he was going for spinal fluid, LOL! Still, it's so well done, I get compliments from all kinds of people on that piece. I think the size and the amount of shading had a lot to do with it though, there are a lot of factors when it comes to the pain scale of a tattoo or piercing.

I like it!!! The beauty of it is- you can cover it. Mine is on my foot and it did hunt! But- I would do it again. I love mine and now I would love a small inside wrist one. Probably would hurt!

It's funny how many people do a double take not thinking I am "that type". LOL.

By Cat on Monday, December 8, 2008 - 08:56 am:

Thanx, everyone! :)

Like I said, this is my fourth. My first is on my lower left abdomen, and yes, it hurt. BUT, I was 20yo, skinny and the worst was when it was right over the pelvic bone. Less fat/muscle between the skin and bone and it tends to hurt more. My second it on the front of my right ankle and honestly, it wasn't too bad. There were a couple spots when it hurt (again, near the bone) and there were actually a couple spots where it tickled! lol My third is on my second toe (toe ring tat) of my left foot. It was excruciating when he went down the sides of my toe. The top wasn't too bad. With this new one it really only hurt the first few minutes.

When people ask me "Did it hurt?" I tell them well, yeah--it's a tattoo! Of course it hurts! lol But it really is a temporary pain. I compare it to a continuous paper cut. The healing stage feels almost like a mild sunburn. I do have a high pain tolerance though, and I realize it's not for everyone.

Ilovetom, I think one on the inside of the wrist would be cool! I also think it would probably hurt quite a bit because that's a very tender spot. I've heard one of the most painful places to get one is the inside of the bicep (think arm band). While I was at the tattoo place Saturday there was a big biker guy there who had dozens of tats. He said his most painful by far was his arm band, on the underside of his arm. He said he cried like a baby getting that! lol He said his second most painful was the back of his head. Another girl said her most painful was her upper chest. Sensitive areas and those places were there's little fat/muscle. Placement really is everything. :)

Kate, The girls names are Emily and Katelyn, they will be 12 in March and they are lucky I let them have their ears pierced forget a tattoo.

Nicole is actually one of my kids from church. It is a typical story for these parts, mother with emotional issues (ex drug addict) gets with abusive man (can't live without a man) and drags her kids through it. He is verbally abusive, kids do without because he won't spend money on them. Pushes the kids out of mom's life because he wants mom all to himself. Mom turns a blind eye, because her bills are being paid, and he tells her he loves her. Her kids are casualties of life. Nicole turned 18, ADC checks stopped and she was kicked out. She has lived full time with us since July, off and on for the three years prior. I have her 16 year old brother, Daniel, all the time too. CPS won't do anything about the situation, because he isn't legally abused or neglected. Our word against mom and boyfriend etc..

"Continuous paper cut"....hhhmmmm...Cat you are making me rethink getting one! LOL

I was going to get mine when I became a grandma and had my grandkids' names tattooed on me! When you're retired, you can do anything! :)

By Karen~admin on Saturday, December 13, 2008 - 08:26 am:

I still don't have any....though I have *almost* gone to get one a number of times.

Jules has several, I forget what all she has. Jen has a star on the inside of her wrist, cascading stars behind one ear (stars are *her thing*) and something on the back of her neck (I HATE that one she has there, it's just ugly)

I want to get something small and unobtrusive on my back, near my shoulder. My problem is I can never decide what I want. LOL

I DO like your butterfly!!!! :)
