Can you keep your cell phone number from a Trac phone to a full service phone?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive February 2007: Can you keep your cell phone number from a Trac phone to a full service phone?
By Dana on Monday, February 26, 2007 - 01:10 pm:

I have been using a Trac Phone the last year as our "emergancy" phone. I am wanting to switch to a full service phone cell company. Will my Trac Phone number be able to follow me?

Also, any ideas on the best deal for most unlimited time schedules? I would be using it during the day time now rather than once in a blue moon.

TIA!

I believe you can switch any phone number to a different cell phone. My sister switched her home number to her cell phone when they got rid of their home phone.

There is a law that allows you to transfer your number. I kept my Verizon number when I changed to Trac Phone a few years ago. They call it "porting" your number.

I don't know the best deals on unlimited minutes...I have a pay per minute phone with Page Plus Cellular- which is expensive if you use it a lot. Good luck!

Yes, as people say above - it's called "porting" and it is a matter of law.

That's good hear.

Any advice on what to watch for BEFORE signing a contract for a cellular service?
