How do you...

wash a sleeping bag? Do you just throw it in the wash or do it by hand or send it to the cleaners? I looked for instructions on a tag, and there was no tag. It's my DH's sleeping bag and he just informed me that the whole time he's owned it, it's never been washed. Hmmm. We've been married 5 1/2 years, were engaged for 1 year, dated for 5 years and he owned it before that. Can we say YUCK!? My poor little 3 year old ds sleeps in the thing in our room when his bed snores too loud (whole new topic).

I've washed sleeping bags, at the laundromat, in the BIG washer! They are fine. They aren't down sleeping bags, though and I don't know if that makes a difference, or not.

Ditto, Dawn. I wash them at the laundromat, like a comforter, and dry it there, or bring it home and hang it on the line.

If you have a front loading washing machine with extra capacity you can wash it in there and dry it in your dryer or on the line. I just washed one recently and that's how I did it.

We have the large capacity washer and dryer and we just toss ours in. We unzip it all the way around first.
