Attracting Buzzards

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: Attracting Buzzards
By Tunnia on Tuesday, January 16, 2007 - 05:46 pm:

I just have to share what my 6yo told me last weekend...

When my ds came in from playing outside last Saturday evening I told him to go jump in the shower. He balked at the idea and said he didn't want to. I then told him that he needed to shower because we had church the next morning and he smelled "stinky". My little boy looked at me as if I was the dumbest person on the face of the earth and said, "Well yeah, Mommy, that's the whole point! I worked really hard to get this stinky!" I just had to ask him why he wanted to be stinky and he said, still with the "duh, Mommy" look on his face, "I need to be stinky to attract the buzzards.". He went on to tell me that he and his sister had seen buzzards up in the sky so they laid on the ground and pretended to be dead so that they could get one to land near them. When that didn't work, they figured that the reason the buzzards weren't coming for them was because they didn't smell "dead" so they ran around the yard to get sweaty and rolled on the ground to get dirty so that they would both look and smell dead and have a better chance with the buzzards.:) LOL Gotta love how a kid's mind works! BTW, he still had to take a shower and I had a big laugh.

That is too funny and I know just what you mean! I went outside this fall to the site of both of my children laid out on the ground like something was terribly wrong. When I hollered and ran to them they shushed me and said "Mom"! Then they proceeded to tell me they were trying to get the buzzards that were circling to come closer to check them out, and they were acting dead so they would come down.

What is it with this fascination with the buzzards??? LOL!

LOL, I just love a child's logic!

LOL! My kids were being watched at my friends' house, while we were all gone. Their teenager was watching them. We came home to them all in the living room, in the dark, sort of hanging off the couches upside down. We were told they were pretending they were bats!

My goodness! What would they have done if the buzzards had actually flown down to them???

By Tunnia on Wednesday, January 17, 2007 - 05:57 pm:

I think that if the buzzards had actually landed they would have completely freaked out!:) I still smile and chuckle every time I think about this and yes, I really need to write this one down.
