Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: Persuasive Essay??

I need a little help! UUGGHH :)

I need to come up with a topic for a persuasive essay, or better yet I need someone to write one for me. LOL

I was thinking about writing about Family Structure and how it has influenced educational outcomes for U.S. children.

I'm stressed out and I know I can depend on the Moms here!!

Yikes! That topic sounds hard! What is your 'persuasion'? That families should make every effort to GET married in the first place and then STAY married because that allows a more stable homelife and the child stands a better chance of going to college?? Or did you have a different angle? I'm not sure that's a topic that lends itself easily to persuasion.

You could do for or against vaccines, for or against homeschooling, for or against allowing kids on the internet, for or against buying foreign products, for or against the big chain stores, for or against pulling kids out of school for family vacations, smoking and drugs can always be argued, you could argue against the long shifts residents and interns work often putting patients in danger...You could always argue that the food pyramid is upside down and that really the fats and oils (the GOOD stuff!!) is supposed to be the five servings a day....;o)

Good luck!

So how has family structure influenced educational outcomes for U.S. children?

I'd go for something easier like the benefit of online support groups or

why society needs newspapers (or not) or

why Trump should have fired that pageant girl (or not) or

girl's clothing options or

anything but how family structure influenced educational outcomes for U.S. children. Too hard.

Why public schools should require uniforms (or not)

Is homework really necessary?

Why America should integrate more vocational training and apprenticeships into high school cirriculum (like Europe)

Why America should have universal healthcare (or not)

Why smoking is bad for you?
