Could Someone Describe the Color 'Merlot'? Does 'Flute Merlot' Mean Anything?

Looking at a bench pad on ebay and the color is 'flute merlot'. It LOOKS deep brick reddish but pictures aren't true to life and the seller hasn't gotten back to me yet. How would YOU describe flute merlot? Thanks!

By Kaye on Thursday, January 4, 2007 - 12:04 pm:

hmm not sure about flute...but merlot is a burgandy color.

when it is used in that context, it generally means grooved or pleated... so, there may be a ribbed or pleated pattern on the pad.

Okay, the ebay lady said it was neither red nor burgundy, but a true 'red wine' color. Not being a wine drinker I'm still clueless, LOL!

Google "the color merlot" and then click on "images" at the top of the Google page.

I tried to give you the link but it was really long and didn't work.

I went and looked up the listing. Flute means it is not a solid color. The color of the picture is probably not too far off, it is probably just a touch darker. I would think a similar color to fiestaware cinabar.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate it. :)
