Brothers anyone want one

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive January 2007: Brothers anyone want one
By Shann on Sunday, December 31, 2006 - 03:56 pm:

Every year aboout a month before christmas. Myself along with my brother and 2 older sisters draw names for Christmas. the name we pick is who we buy christmas for and no one else. Well about a month ago my brothers Wife had it out with my sister and the one family they drew for Christmas. We make a limit 50.00 family limit. anyway so sil made a fuss that they werent buying them anything for Christmas. (but the whole argument was sil and my brothers fault) so christmas came around no gift and only a card saying familys should stay together and all this crap but nothing else.So I asked my brother last night if they were planning on getting our sister anything for Christmas and sil says NO we bought her a card. and that was that. So my question is I fell very guilty and hurt that my brother can do this to his sister and not speak up when his wife is wrong. so I along with my Sister where going to get my sister a gift for Christmas and say that it was from us. Is this wrong.

I think it's a great idea. I'm sure she was very hurt. You can't change your brother and SIL, but I'm sure you'll put a smile on your sister's face.

Ditto Marcia. I think your sister will really appreciate that.

You cannot undue what your brother has done but I think it is a great idea to go ahead and get your sister a gift. Too bad whoever drew their names didn't follow through. You shouldn't get a gift if you do not participate. Maybe they need to be removed from the list next year.
