What's left on your To Do List for your Christmas celebrations?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: What's left on your To Do List for your Christmas celebrations?
By Tink on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 02:09 pm:

I haven't wrapped anything yet but I'll get that done today. I've baked and baked and baked but so much of it has been given away or eaten that I have to make at least another pound of fudge and more eggnog snickerdoodles and peanut butter blossoms. My shopping is finished, my house is clean, my cards are all out. I'm a bit overwhelmed by all the wrapping I have to do but somehow it will all get done. Part of the trouble with our celebration is that the biggest get-together is Christmas Eve so I have to be done a day ahead of time.

What do you still have to do before the 25th?

By Bellajoe on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 02:24 pm:

My shopping and wrapping is all done. We grocery shopped today. I already got out all the China and wiped it off (it was all still in the boxes from moving.)

I think all I really have to do is clean the house. But I will do that tomorrow or Sunday. If i do it now, it will just get all messed up by Monday :(

I already made and gave away most of the cookies. I did save some and froze them, so I think I will still have enough for Christmas.

Sunday I will make most of the stuff ahead of time. I have to make some Chicken Parmegan and a Lasagna. Monday I will make the Cheesecake for dessert. I have everyone bringing something, so that will help out a lot!

By Vicki on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 02:24 pm:

The only thing I still have left to do is buy my groceries for Christmas Day. I already have a ham, but don't know what else we are going to have! Doing that tomorrow!! Other than that, I am wrapped, baked and ready to go!!

By Reds9298 on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 03:23 pm:

Finished my last thing today...groceries for Christmas day. Done! I've been wrapped for a week or so, but have been baking pretty much daily. Now all the goodies I make will be OURS!LOL

By Rayanne on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 03:49 pm:

NOTHING!!!! WOOHOO!!!!:)

I just have to sit and relax now. All wrapping is done and everything. YAY!!!!

By Cocoabutter on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 04:02 pm:

I JUST got done with shopping and wrapping yesterday, got shopping for Christmas dinner done this morning, and got ds' class Christmas party done this afternoon (I'm room mom) so now all I have to do is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. :(

By Kaye on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 04:10 pm:

lol...it seems like a lot but not really.

I have two gifts left to buy. I know exactly what they are and where they are, but need to go without kids. So I will likely be buying those tomorrow night (scary). Everything else is wrapped and ready to go.

The rest of this stuff is optional...i want to make a gingerbread house. I want to bake cookies and then deliver them to a few people. I want to make a cake and a pie.

I need to do a quick clean. The house was all clean just a week ago, so this should take long, bathrooms and vacuum. The kids got it all picked up.

Now I am cooking both meals, so I do need to some cooking, but it will either be done early or we will all do it together Christmas day. The over achiever in me would like it all done and in the fridge before tomorrow at 5, which is when my dad will be here. But that probably won't happen :)

Oh and I am going to paint my stairwell and two walls in the playroom in just a bit..LOL. Long story, but I need it done by time dad gets here!

By Annie2 on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 07:15 pm:

I need to pick up a ham on Sunday, some stocking stuffers for ds and some groceries for XMas Eve and Xmas day. Other than that, I am done :)

By Sunny on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 07:39 pm:

I just need to make the last batch of Snickerdoodle cookies and wrap the gifts and I'll be done. While that doesn't sound like much, I still have a lot of presents to wrap and it might take me a few hours. (My back is hurting just thinking about it.)

By Breann on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 12:19 am:

Still need to pick up a few gifts and some stocking stuffers. Everything we have so far is wrapped.

Need to clean the house tomorrow. Sunday I'll premake all I can for Christmas dinner.

Tomorrow we are doing the gingerbread house, sugar cookies and a few different kinds of candy.

I'm excited for the next few days! Should be a fun time :)

Happy holidays everyone!

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 12:51 am:

A few presents to buy yet, a few presents to wrap, lasagna sauce and then making the lasagna. That's pretty much it.

By Yjja123 on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 03:22 am:

Presents are bought and wrapped. Grocery shopping is done. We have our annual pajama party on Saturday. My children's friends will come over for a sleepover. We will stay in our pajamas all day long and watch Christmas movies. The kids will decorate sugar cookies to take home with them. Christmas eve morning they will all head home. I may make some candy but other than that the prep is done. I am ready to celebrate! :)

By Sandysmom on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 04:47 am:

Hmmmm... Well, I still have some wrapping to do, and also some grocery shopping.

By Ginny~moderator on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 06:01 am:

I have to buy 3 or 4 pairs of argyle socks for one of my sons, to be "in balance". Everything is wrapped except his gift and a book for my granddaughter, and they will be wrapped today.

By Conni on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 08:52 am:

Not much... This has been the most relaxing holiday season. lol :) We are having a very small Christmas, which is not like me to do at all. Because I love Christmas and all the things we do every year for it I am anal about doing! But this year since things are so expensive here and isnce the grocery shopping is so confusing for me still... Well... we just arent doing much. :)

I will bake cookies with the kids tonight. They are all getting 1 gift from santa and some stocking stuffers. They are all getting 1 gift from us. On Christmas day we usually have a large brunch and then ham or turkey dinner late in the day. This yr we are having fruit for breakfast and cooking on the grill in the afternoon. :) We'll probably eat outside in our shorts. lol

We arent having to make it to several different family functions and I have to tell you that has been nice. (awful of me I know!)

By Jackie on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 09:54 am:

Seems like so much to do still. My sister in law and brother in law will be here early evening. They are driving,so its hard to predict. I have my son cleaning his room, as thats where they will sleep. He has a queen size bed, so it works out fine. I have the blanket and sheets in the washing machine. I just finished up with the dusting in the living room, my son has vacuumed. I have cookies baking now. I made fudge earlier. We made fudge earlier in the week, but it is all gone LOL...

When my husband gets home from work, he will have to put the Hanukkah decorations away in the attic. He will then need to go up and get our fiber optic tree out of the attic. There is just no room for it all.
I still need to clean the main upstairs bathroom, which is not bad. Just a wipe down and a tub scrubbing.
I need to try to get to the bank and then to get a Starbucks giftcard for my brother in law, then I am all done LOL.. it seems like a lot but not really.

By Pamt on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 10:06 am:

I still have one gift to pick up and 2 gifts to wrap. I haven't started baking--banana bread for neighbors, 2 kinds of cookies, poundcake, and sausage & cheese biscuits. Also my house is a wreck!!!! It will be a busy day, but I am determined to be done by about 5:30 because tonight is "homemade pizza/It's a Wonderful Like" night

Oh yeah...about 5 loads of laundry too. :(

By Hol on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 11:28 am:

Just have to wrap my grandaughter's gifts and get some fruit for the boys' stockings. I actually got my cards out on time this year. My daughter wanted the "Princess" TV for DGD, so I bought that early on walmart.com and had it sent directly to her house.

I intend to have a low key weekend and relax. My boss took us out for a drink yesterday afternoon since we closed early. I don't ususally drink alcohol. I had a mixed drink and came home and took a nap. It felt SO good. The house was empty and quiet.

Usually I am so stressed out by Christmas.

By Tripletmom on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 03:43 pm:

All Done :) I left DH with the kids today and had my haircut and had sometime to myself.I left a list of chores that needed to be done and was hoping a few would be done,he got them all done :)So right now life is good.We have a few friends coming over tonight,so,let the games begin:)

By Pamt on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 03:57 pm:

Last load of laundry is in the dryer. 4 loaves of banana bread and 48 ginger snaps have been baked. All gifts have been purchased, wrapped, and are under the tree. Still have to bake sugar cookies and poundcake, but I'm doing the poundcake after supper since it takes 2 hours to bake. Gotta clean house too, but right now I'm catching a nap. Can't vacuum until DH finishes mowing the yard (for the last time!) and can't sweep/mop kitchen until I finish my baking extravaganza anyway.

By Happynerdmom on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 05:16 pm:

WRAPPING. I have a few more groceries to get tonight, some light baking, laundry. Did I mention wrapping?!

By Mom2three1968 on Saturday, December 23, 2006 - 08:58 pm:

I have alittle wrapping to do and then that is all, it feels so goooood!!!

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 12:30 am:

I think presents are pretty much wrapped. The lasagna "sauce" is made and my house smells so good. We are done Christmas shopping. I know we have to go to the store, ONE more time, because we forgot to buy French bread. Darn.

By Nicki on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 12:47 am:

Wrapping here, too. I need to wait until the little one is asleep. She is so excited, it's taking awhile tonight! Need to clean, too. The house smells so good right now. We are baking gingerbread cookies. My favorite. Lara wants to stay up and help us frost them. Maybe it's going to be an all nighter, here. LOL

Have fun, everyone.

Cleaning. Wrapping. Laundry. Wrapping. Cooking. Wrapping. More Laundry. More wrapping....you get the idea ;) We have been so busy with e-bay stuff that we've fallen behind on our *own* preparations....but at least the customers are happy (well, most of them). If only I didn't require sleep, I might have a chance of getting it all done....

By Karen~admin on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 02:08 am:

I spent yesterday doing laundry, cleaned one bathroom last night, *finally* finished unpacking our stuff from vacation. Still have my bathroom to clean and the rest of the house as well. Haven't wrapped gifts yet either, but we only have a few this year. And since my kitchen is half torn apart, we can't really cook our Christmas meal so I ordered stuff from Honey Baked Ham store, and Jeff's good friend is frying 2 turkeys and bringing us one around noon on Christmas!

This is going to be somewhat of a *blah* Christmas, since there are no decorations up this year, not even a tree. Oh - and did I mention I am sick again? Had to go back on antibiotics Saturday, for the exact same thing I was sick with at Thanksgiving.

DH is going to clean the floors and go to Honey Baked Ham, so that will be a big help.

And since I can't sleep, I'm up doing - MORE laundry - washing the bath mats and shower curtains. LOL

By Debbie on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 09:54 am:

All done here!!

My mom and I finished wrapping last night, while the boys were at a basketball game with my Dad and Dh. We are just doing an easy dinner tonight... ham, sweet potatoes and salad. I am making an egg casserole after dinner, so it will be ready to cook tomorrow morning. Tomorrow my Mom will make a prime rib. yum... So, we will just be relaxing, and hanging out today and tomorrow. It feels great after all the craziness the last few weeks.

By Tink on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 10:44 am:

Done, Done, DONE!!!:) I've wrapped everything, baked everything and cleaned everything I can do ahead of time. I have the breakfast casserole to put together this afternoon and a few cleaning tasks that are pointless to do to far beforehand but ALL the prep work is completed. I can go to church, put together the casserole and enjoy my Christmas!!! I hope all of you are able to enjoy yours also.

By Kate on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 11:11 am:

I'm trying to make my sick child well. :( She started in with a stomach bug at 3:00 this morning and will not be able to make her debut in her Christmas Pageant this afternoon.

I have the house to clean and three presents to wrap.

Merry Christmas everyone!

By Paulas on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 11:40 am:

Can you believe it's December 24th and I still have a LITTLE shopping to do and some sewing!
School has been so busy this year and we went right up til the 22nd that I let things go this year.

I also have to bake some cookies for Santa.

What am I doing on the computer????

By Vicki on Sunday, December 24, 2006 - 12:03 pm:

I am DONE!! I have everything as ready as it can be ahead of time for both tonight and tomorrow!! All I have left to get ready is me! LOL We aren't leaving tonight until about 6, so I have tons of time left! Feels so nice! Merry Christmas to all!
