What is the Miss USA scandal?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: What is the Miss USA scandal?
By Marg on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - 08:32 am:

Sorry I don't watch tv much, what is going on?

Why did Donald Trump change his mind, is he in charge of it?

By Tonya on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - 08:52 am:

Donald Trump owns the Miss USA pagent and everything that is involved in it.

By what I have read she is 20 and has been seen out boozing and doing drugs and not acting as she should.

By Mommmie on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - 08:58 am:

I think it's just underage drinking out at clubs in New York, not drugs. But she turned 21 a couple of days ago.

By Tink on Wednesday, December 20, 2006 - 12:06 pm:

She was twenty when she and Miss Teen USA were seen in clubs, tossing back shots of alcohol, snorting lines of cocaine and dancing "promiscuously" with each other. Both of the Miss USA pageants have clauses in the contract about acting, at all times, in a way befitting the crown. Donald Trump did allow her to keep her title but I'm not sure why after all the stories about her.

Trump said he *believes everyone deserves a 2nd chance*. She is entering rehab.

By Reds9298 on Thursday, December 21, 2006 - 01:20 pm:

If she was doing drugs, absolutely bad news. If not though, and she was just at bars, drinking, and dancing promiscuously, welcome to being a teen if you ask me! I wasn't in bars when I was a teen, but I was certainly dancing promiscuously and drinking at someone's house! If everyone entered rehab for that, we'd all be there.

I probably don't know everything about her. Just my first thoughts.

By Brandy on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 01:35 am:

Not everyone would be there i never danced promiscously never drank until over 21 and i still really don't if she wanted the position she should act like it and i don't think she should of gotten a second chance...

By Cocoabutter on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 07:42 am:

So what does everyone think about the feud between Rosie O'donnel and Trump?

By Vicki on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 07:53 am:

I don't think that is normal teen behavior either. Maybe for some teens, but it certainly wouldn't be acceptable behavior for my dd. It is against the law!! Also, she is just not some "normal" teen. She is Miss USA and should be held to a little higher standard. But then again, I do feel the standards of this country have been going downhill for years.......

By Reds9298 on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 09:52 am:

Having a few drinks and dancing is normal for teens, at some point. It doesn't mean they're bad, it means they're normal for heaven's sake! These rich celebrity teens are at the bars because they can get by with it. Regular kids can't of course. And I never said it was acceptable, I said it's normal. It's what kids do.

I think Miss Teen should have to obey the law of course, as we all should, but she shouldn't be any different than a standard teen IMO.

By Lorebunde on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 11:22 am:

I don't think she should of gotten a 2nd chance. But what about Trump and Rosie going at it? They are really getting nasty!

By Conni on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 11:54 am:

Ditto- she should have got the boot. These young ladies know they are no longer *normal* teens when they enter these pageants and especially after they win! :) You are suppose to be a role model.

After the news this morning, I feel even more strongly she needs to get the boot. :)

I couldnt care less about Rosie and Donald... not following that at all. lol

By Tink on Friday, December 22, 2006 - 12:17 pm:

Ditto Conni. I'm all for teens being normal and that means pushing boundaries but she is a role model and knew that being crowned Miss USA would put her at a higher standard of conduct and visibility. There is a responsibility that she has now that the average teen doesn't deal with.

I'm not following the Rosie/Donald issue, either.
