By Shann on Tuesday, December 5, 2006 - 08:12 pm:

Friday morning I had a mild earache nothing to bad but by Monday I couldn't take it anymore and I woke up Sunday to find blood and yuk on my pillow so Monday I went to the hospital. As we were waiting my ear hurt so bad it was shooting pains down my neck and in my eyes the worse feeling. after almost 2 hours of waiting I get in and the Dr. Said I had perferated (sp?) my ear drum but the swelling was to bad to get a good luck at it. I also have a sever inner and outer ear infection and somthing else he was talking on the bad side and I couldn't hear him. they put a wick down my ear so that the medicine will soak into it and get it passed the swelling. I am on 1 oral antibiotic and one ear anitbotic and he gave me some pain meds. I woke up this morning and the wike was full of blood and the medicine wouldn't soak up so I pulled it out( sorry for being so gross). I go back in tomorrow to see if they can get a good look at the ear drum he said that he was afraid that there might be some damage. I have very little hearing in it. but it constanly drainning and its all blood so that scares me alittle. Has anyone else have something similar happen to me or know of. I have never had an earache like this. I get them every year pretty much but nothing that I couldn't handle. Im just not use to the blood. I have to change the cotton every few hours or so because of the blood draining

Is this an ear specialist ? If not,I highly urge you to go see one, quick. I almost hesitate telling you this, but many years ago a very good childhood friend of mine got a really bad ear infection. They took her to the emergency room, and she died a few hours later. The infection went into her inner ear,and then into her brain.I don't know all the details, but I do know that it happened very fast.My DH has a lot of problems, and everytime it gets infected I think of my friend, and worry myself sick, almost.Maybe your DR can refer you to an ENT ( ear ,nose and throat doctor).Good luck and I will say a prayer for you :)

My son has tubes in his ears and for some reason unfortunately still gets ear infections. The last one he had, his ear started bleeding. I rushed him to his ENT because it scared me to death. He told me it was an infection and normal??? I didn't realize bleeding from the ear was normal, but anyway. He gave him ear drops and antibiotic. He cleaned his ear out there at the office by suctioning his ear out and it quit bleeding. After a week, we went back and the infection was gone.

Goodness! I feel so bad for you. I have had some whopper ear infections but nothing like you have right now. I agree with Wandilu that you should go see an ENT. Please keep us updated as to how you are doing. (((((((((hugs))))))))))

That sounds absolutely painful and frightning. I have no experience w/ anything like this to give any advice. I just hope you can feel better soon.
