Baby Names!!!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: Baby Names!!!
By Jelygu on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 06:14 pm:

My husband and I found out on Friday that our baby is probably a little boy. (She is 75% sure, and is gonna check again for us next time. The umbilical cord was between his legs, and made it hard for her to see)
Anyway, my husband is VERY picky when it comes to boy names. He likes traditional names, like Christopher, our first son.
Our problem is this: We both like the name Luke, but we are having a hard time finding a name that would go with it. We wouldn't care if Luke was the first or middle name, we just need another name with it. Any ideas?

By Annie2 on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 06:52 pm:

Could you make his name Lucas and call him Luke? Many things go with this name.

By Tink on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 07:11 pm:

Jonathon is what first came to mind. Matthew, Jason, Jacob (although it's VERY popular), Tyler, Mason, and Nicholas are all traditional names that I like with Luke. Congratulations, you'll love seeing your boys grow up together!:)

By Sandysmom on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 08:28 pm:

I like Aiden Luke.

Annie, my husband doesn't like Lucas... isn't that silly. Like I said, he is very picky!

By Kateg on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 09:03 pm:

Benjamin Luke, too.

By Luvn29 on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 09:14 pm:

If you want Luke as a first name, I like Luke Michael or Luke Jonathan. Luke Samuel and Luke Abraham are okay, too. I think if you go with Luke as the first name, you need a longer middle name, 2 or 3 syllables. I also like Zachary Luke, and Caleb Luke. Hunter Luke, Micah Luke, Aiden Luke, Timothy Luke, Kevin Luke, Sebastien Luke, Joshua Luke, Ethan Luke... Just to name a few! LOL!

I tend to like Luke better as a middle name, but I feel very strongly about naming a child what they are going to be called... It's just easier for them through life when they don't have to correct everyone when they call them by their first name all the time...

Luke Thomas sounds pretty neat. How exciting!!! I'm so excited about you being preggers! I've missed you here on the boards. I've missed a lot since Scott has been deployed but I check in every so often, but I haven't seen you here in a while! New pics of Christopher you'd like to post? I just loved his red hair!!! Does he still have it? Are you in school still?

I'm biased - I like Luke Robert. :)

By Wandilu on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 11:05 pm:

How about Luke Coleton? Or it might be spelled Colton. My biggest regret ,concerning naming my kids,is that I didn't name my son Wade Lucas.I wanted to name him after me,sort of.My initials are W.L. for Wanda Lou,and I wanted his initials to be the same as mine. But at that time (32 yrs ago)it was common place,or almost mandatory,to name the first born son after his father. So I named him Richard, after his dad,and Wesley after his great-grandfather,who was one of the greatest men ever born :) But,if I had to do it over again,he would be Wade Lucas, and called Luke.

I like Aiden Luke! If Luke is the first name, I like Luke David or Luke Michael.

We used to have a kid at our church named Aiden and he was so cute, so I'm kind of biased towards that name.

By Pamt on Saturday, December 2, 2006 - 11:23 pm:

I wanted to name our youngest son Luke, but we had already picked the middle name of Lewis and Luke Lewis didn't sound so great. If we had gone with Luke then the middle name would have been Jameson in honor of my dad (James) and my maiden name and my mom's maiden name both ended with -son. I think Luke Jameson is great and I think Luke is such a manly name. I don't like Lucas either---rhymes with mucus :). I do think if you use Luke as a first name that you'll need a 2-3 syllable middle name to go with it. Good luck with the name game and congrats!

I like Pam's suggestion, Luke Jameson. It has a great ring to it. I also like Luke Alexander. You know, I love the name Luke. But, I am with your dh, I really don't like Lucas either.

You guys have some great ideas. The hubs has decided that he likes Luke Cameron the best. I think it sounds pretty good. But now that you all gave me so many ideas, I don't know what to pick!

Heidi- Chris still has his red hair, I will post some pics later tonight. (If I have time, we are having his bday party today... He turned 3 yesterday!) It has faded a little, but not too much.
I finished school in October. Yay! My graduation is in a few weeks.
I haven't been on here in a long time, school took up most of my time. Hopefully I will be able to find more time for Momsview though!

I thought of Luke James, too, or Luke Simon. I like Luke Thomas and Luke Robert, too.

By Kaye on Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 12:02 pm:

I like John Luke.

By Pamt on Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 12:23 pm:

Jennifer, I don't know if it is important to you what names mean or not (it was very important to us when selecting names), but FYI the name Cameron means "crooked nose." The only reason I know this is because I really liked the name Cameron too and when searching its meaning that's what we can up with. Hope that doesn't throw a wrench in things, but if etymology matters to you then I thought you'd want to know before you became too attached to that name. :)

By Wandilu on Sunday, December 3, 2006 - 09:48 pm:

How about Luke Caleb or Luke Jackson ?
