Weird Weather....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive December 2006: Weird Weather....
By Tarable on Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 02:54 pm:

My whole life I have heard the saying that if you don't like the weather in Texas just wait a while and it will change.. Well I think this is the weirdest it has ever been.. Yesterday it was 80 and raining and we were under a tornado watch and a winter weather advisory.. Today it is 25-30 and sleeting. I just wish my boss would get a clue and let us go home early.

By Tonya on Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 02:58 pm:

You want weird today I got up at 7am and it was 58 now it is 3pm and 42. We hit a record yesterday of 67 and tomorrow the high is 32 with 2-3 inches of snow and ice rain tonight.

We say that here is Michigan too never trust the weather man just look outside and layer yourself.

Just wait until my weather gets to Michigan, Tonya! Yesterday, I woke up and it was 50-something and when I woke up this morning, it was 26, and now it's still in the 20's, with a windchill of 17. Tomorrow, we are supposed to get 4-6inches of snow. I guess I bought a new snow shovel, just in time!

Dawn we are going to miss the snow, yea!!! I'm not ready. They say the front is coming from your way and we'll get the cold but the snow will be north of us and they are expected to get 5-7 inches. Tonya and I only live about 15 miles from each other. I hope you don't get too much snow. Stay warm.

It's about 65 degrees here and I am loving it. I can't believe tomorrow is Dec 1 and I've got my windows open.

By Debbie on Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 03:26 pm:

We have a snow day today! Tuesday it was 75 degrees. It dropped down to the 30's yesterday, we had sleet and freezing ran last night. It stopped for awhile. Now, we have snow. We will have about 6 inches when all is said and done. It is just crazy. Dh went to work early this morning, I just hope he can get home tonight!

By Dawnk777 on Thursday, November 30, 2006 - 10:30 pm:

After supper tonight, the kids and I went grocery shopping, so we have enough food for tomorrow! I don't know if we will get a snow day or not, tomorrow. I have to work at 8:30 and I can usually drive the kids to school, but if we have lots of snow and still have to go to school, Gary is going to have to take them, himself, because we would have to take it slow, and I don't know if I would have time.

I would probably end up walking to work. I would just put my sweatpants over my uniform pants, so I didn't get all wet. On a good day, it only takes me about 5 minutes to walk there.

We've been in the 80s all week which is highly unusual this time of year and woke up to 29 degrees this morning in south Louisiana. Had the a/c on all day and I turned the heat on before I went to bed.

Tara, we say the same thing in Clevleand. "If you don't like the weather, wait a half hour, it'll change" :)

It was 65 yesterday, last night it was down to the 50's and raining, and today it's supposed to snow :(

By Debbie on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 10:06 am:

We have another snow day. We got 8 inches of snow here, north of Oklahoma City. My neighbors said we brought all the snow with us from Chicago. We are 10 degrees right now. A BIG difference from 75 on Tuesday.

Nothing but rain here in southeast MI. It's been raining nonstop for over a day. Ugh!!! It took me over an hour to go 12 miles this morning. Even though I'm not ready for snow I would have preferred that over rain.

Tonya, did you hung up in the traffic light power outage by the airport? I know you work out that way. Luckily I heard it on the news and went out to Telegraph. What a commute today!!!

Here in our Nation's Capital (WDC) we've been in the low to mid sixties since last Friday and today we are supposed to reach a high of 71 with a high winds advisory effect for the entire area and heavy rains expected this evening, tomorrow we slide done the slop to 51 and then in the low 30's on Sunday and a chance of snow on Monday (I'm diffiantly not ready for that, need to buy new coats and boots).

By Brandy on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 11:37 am:

hhrandsnow.jpeg windy and cold and snowing for the first time this year...earlier this week highs were in the 60's..

By Dawnk777 on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 02:14 pm:

Snowing, since 7am solid! It's about mid-calf on me, in the driveway! I shook the show off the cedar bushes we have, since they are tall and I don't think it can be good for them. I also filled my birdfeeder, too.

By Dawnk777 on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 04:18 pm:

We got about 8 inches of snow!

By Cocoabutter on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 05:54 pm:

It started freezing rain here about midnight last night, and continued all night. Over 400 area school districts were closed today. It started snowing briefly around 8 AM and then went back to freezing rain, then snow again around noon. We only got about 3-6 inches of snow, but it's messy wet snow, and temps are below freezing. Highways are mostly clear, so dh should make it home okay from work tonight.

By Tayjar on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 08:56 pm:

Here in Central Illinois where I live they say we got 12 inches of snow. My DH is down at a friend's house this weekend and they got 15 inches of snow. My BIL had to come and plow us out. We live in the country and had drifts that were almost as high as the garage. Most malls, businesses, and extra activities are closed or canceled.

The company I work for has never closed the Corporate office before, at least not in the 15 years I've worked there. They did today. So the kiddos and I both had snow days. They can't remember ever getting this much snow so they played outside all day in it.

By Dawnk777 on Friday, December 1, 2006 - 09:03 pm:

Wow, that must have been fun, Tayjar! Cocoabutter, freezing rain is the worst!
