Train Snack

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive September 2006: Train Snack
By Emily7 on Monday, September 25, 2006 - 07:15 pm:

My ds is going to be "Super Kid" at his pre-school on the 16th & we get to bring a snack. That day they will be learing about trains & I want to find a snack that would look like a train.
TIA

Hmmm... I have a cute website for an engine made out of candy that I bookmarked from a suggestion made here, I believe.

Candy Train

You could make those for the children to take home...though you might try to find something to replace the lifesavers....

Anyhow, maybe you could make train cars out of graham crackers broken into fours (one fourth will be broken in half), and "glued" together with either peanut butter, cream cheese, or frosting (check for allergies). Use cheerios or something else similar for the wheels and glue those on. Then you could place nerds candy in one for coal, or pretzel sticks in one for logs, or mini marshmallows in one, practically anything...

Then make a train out of the different cars and the engine. If you don't want to make an engine for each of them, make one out of non edible things and just serve the "cars".

Don't know if any of this makes sense....just brainstorming...

It makes sense to me, thank you. I was thinking about using celery & those little ritz crackers(that have cheese or pb in them) as wheels.
I was also thinking of just a sugar cookie cut out like a train.
It is really cool that he gets to do be the "Super Kid" that day because his dad is a conductor & is now training to be an engineer.
