Trina--Another Airbag Question....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Trina--Another Airbag Question....
By Kate on Thursday, July 27, 2006 - 09:48 am:

Hello! I just got to thinking....as I said, I have a new Odyssey with side airbags and DD 5 sits outboard. She also sits in a Graco Turbo Booster surrounded by the head wings filled with bike helmet foam. Do you think it is MORE dangerous for her to have the back attached (thus the head wings attached) in the event the airbag goes off, or would she be safer withOUT the head wings in that case? I just can't figure out if those would protect her, or cause more harm because they'd be a hard object forced into her head by the airbag. Any idea? Thanks!

High back boosters provide MORE side impact protection than backless boosters. Your DD is safer WITH the head wings. Both my kids (8 & almost 10) ride in Britax Parkway boosters with head wings and EPS foam.

DD (5 1/2) rides in a Britax Parkway as well, in the same van as you and I have no worries. Our car previous had side curtain airbags as well. HTH:)
