Nursing some wounds

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Nursing some wounds
By Sandysmom on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 08:55 pm:

I hurt my knees and my foot trying to cross over top of a baby gate in the hallway. My legs are short. I should've known better.

By Ginny~moderator on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 09:23 pm:

Ouch. Being short myself, I know the feeling. Why is the world built for people 5'6" and taller?

By Mrsheidi on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 10:00 pm:

I hear ya, sister. Going pants shopping is a nightmare too. Hope your foot and knees are doing better!

By Crystal915 on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 10:19 pm:

Ouch!!

By Dawnk777 on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 12:40 am:

5'6"? How about 5'4"! DH is only 3 inches taller, but it's amazing what he can reach, that I cannot!

Ouch, Sandy!

By Karen~admin on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 07:32 am:

Ginny, even us tall gals trip and get hung up over stuff like that! LOL

Heidi, try finding pant legs long enough for a 5'8" body.

Sandy, hope you're OK!!!

By Yjja123 on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 08:04 am:

Hope your feeling better soon. I have you all beat---I am 5 feet tall. My 11 year old is already taller than me LOL.

By Sandysmom on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 08:53 am:

Thank you everyone for your concern. :) I am doing better this morning but I have a bruise and a small lump on my knee. I'm not limping though.

By Cat on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 09:18 am:

BTDT Glad you're a little better this morning. Hugs :)

By Pamt on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 10:12 am:

Sorry about your boo-boo and glad you are feeling better! :)

And about height...
I am 5'9" and like Karen I have great difficulty finding pants the right length. Regular pants are too short and "talls" are too long. And Ginny, kitchen counters are built for women about 5'4"-5'7". Anytime I spend any length of time chopping or rolling dough on my counters my back and shoulders are killing me. One of my professors (female) is about 5'9"-5'10" and had tall custom built counters in her kitchen. It makes SUCH a difference. LOL

By Kaye on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 11:16 am:

Pam...we bought a house once that had custom cabinets for a lady in a wheelchair. My mom was 5'2' and LOVED them. The irony is she ended up in a wheelchair about the time we moved.

By Hol on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 01:11 pm:

I'm 5'4" and shrinking. I had to buy one of those "reach" tools to grab cereal boxes off the shelf, hang bird feeders, etc.
The lady that owned the hair salon where I worked was 5'10", and had the shampoo sinks installed to be comfortable for her. They were high for me.
If I get hurt, it's usually because I am the MOST uncoordinated person there is. "Princess Grace" I'm not! :)
Glad you're feeling better today. :)

By Dandjmom on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 02:47 pm:

Sandy glad your feeling better.

Pamt your not lying about those kitchens counters, if I'm there standing for a while, I start to feel it. Wish I had the money to get custom counters.

BTDT. I used to get my shorts caught in the gate on my way over it. :)
