Hot day today!

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Hot day today!
By Dawnk777 on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 06:57 pm:

My thermometer got up to 95.2, and is on it's way down now. It's a good thing we got our AC replaced, before we went on vacation! I can't imagine living without it.

Tomorrow is supposed to be worse! Bleah. I have to run outside and get the grill ready, so I can cook bratwurst for supper. I already made an apple-fennel salad, to go with them!

By Reds9298 on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 07:04 pm:

I know!! I'm not sure what it got up to today, but I'm sure it was around 95. We have a new A/C and today was the first time (since we got it a year ago) that it couldn't keep up. It still feels great in here, but higher than it's set. I probably should change the filter.

It's miserable outside! Natalie didn't want to be out for long this afternoon. We mostly stayed in the shade, and played in the water this morning. It's so humid here, too. That's the worst.

By Pamt on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 07:25 pm:

You guys make me laugh. :) We've been in the 90s since April/May and for the past couple of months have had a heat index in the 100s when you factor in the oppressive humidity. If it's less than 95 if feels like a cool front has come through.

You can laugh at me this winter when I complain about it dipping into the 50s though--LOL

By Dawnk777 on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 08:51 pm:

Yes, I'll surely laugh then, because by the time you get to 50, Pam, we'll be far colder up here! Everytime I complain about the heat, though, someone laughs at me! It's not just this board, it's my email friend who lives in Tx. There's a good reason I don't live in TX, or LA! Too hot. We get the humidity, though, because we live so close to Lake Michigan, here! It's cooling off, though. It's in the 80's now, so still feels warm, but it's not as oppressively hot!

By Mommmie on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 09:15 pm:

It's hotter than normal here in Texas - over a 100 and humid - with a heat advisory. It's even too hot to swim because you still have to breath that unbreathable air. Ugh!

With global warming I wonder when the reverse migration will happen??

By Hol on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 11:23 pm:

You ladies are scaring me! :) Weather moves west to east, so I know what WE are in for in the next few days. LOL! They HAVE been predicting a heat wave. Today wasn't too bad.
I am NOT a hot weather person. I have lived in the South in my younger days, and even then, I "liked to died" as they said in North Carolina. Now that I am older, fatter, and have been through menopause...give me a crisp, cool Fall day anytime. Low humidity, the smell of apples and burning leaves in the air.... I don't even wear a winter coat in the winter. I LOVE the cold. Not crazy about driving in snow, tho.
Mommmie, when my oldest DS was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, they would post "black flag days" where the troops couldn't go out for PT because of the heat.
Be careful, all. Stay cool and well hydrated. And don't forget to keep the pets in where it is cool.

By Tink on Saturday, July 15, 2006 - 11:50 pm:

Pam, I'm with you. We were at 101 for the high today and at almost 9pm, it's still 92 degrees. This doesn't even seem unusual to us. Monday, we'll hit 110 and I know we'll get in the pool around 10am, maybe hit a matinee movie and then get right back in the water. It's just too hot for anything else at that point. Thank God for central air conditioning!

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 12:57 am:

As hot as it was today, it's apparently supposed to be hotter tomorrow! Ugh. I'm just going to stay in the house, except for watering my flowers!

Heat index is supposed to be 105 tomorrow and possibly on Monday. Heat advisory until 6am on Monday.

Tuesday is ONLY supposed to be in the 80's! LOL!

By Ginny~moderator on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 07:02 am:

It's supposed to go up to 95 in the Philadelphia area today, and even hotter - maybe 100 - on Tuesday or Wednesday. I think I wouldn't mind so much if we weren't having frequent thunderstorms, which makes it awfully humid too. I dread seeing my electric bill for July. We're on heat advisorys too.

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 08:45 am:

New Temp Record We officially hit 101 yesterday!

By Karen~admin on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 09:58 am:

Ditto Pamt. LOL

Pam, want to chew some air with me??

By Dawnk777 on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 02:51 pm:

Sheboygan, WI
Temp 94
Dewpoint 64
Winds 5 mph

New Orleans, LA
Temp 92.9
Dewpoint 75
Winds 4 mph

Wow, you have us beat, with that dewpoint. It's muggy enough here, and sometimes, here does get into the 70's, but not all that often. Yikes!

By Marcia on Sunday, July 16, 2006 - 11:53 pm:

This is what it says for us right now(midnight), and don't forget we're something like 2000 miles north of you, Pam and Karen! :)

27 (80.6)
FEELS LIKE 34°C (93.2)
WIND W 4 km/h
GUSTS
RELATIVE HUMIDITY 62%
DEWPOINT 19°C
PRESSURE 101.36 kPa

It was just below 100* without the humidity today.

By Hol on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 12:14 am:

It was 93 today with humidity that felt about the same. We went to the Grange Fair and the sun was INTENSE! One DS rode the rides for three hours. Other DS hung with me, and we mostly drank lemonade and kept trying to find a shady bench to sit. Of course we HAD to eat the usual fair goodies that you can only get once or twice a summer; funnel cakes, hand cut french fries, and cotton candy. Later in the day, we were contemplating getting a corn dog, but I felt a little queasy from the heat. We came home to our air conditioned house, and the three of us took naps. The sun DRAINS me.
DH and some buddies went to a ballgame. He came home, showered and collapsed into bed. He told me that, tomorrow, he wants me to give him a Marine Corp haircut!
Tomorrow and Tuesday are supposed to be worse.
