Shape of a Woman

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Shape of a Woman
By Tink on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 06:18 pm:

This is a really neat blog that shows different photos of women before, during, and after pregnancy. It's nice to see "real" bodies and to realize that we all carry "battle scars" from bringing our children into this world.

Warning: Not suitable for kids or work, there are some shots that show the changes in women's breasts.

THANK YOU! I needed this!

What a great site. Thanks so much for posting this. I was just telling DH last night how much i hate my middle touched now. I have those spare tires that I never had. I will try not to feel so unhappy with my belly, but I must admit I will find it difficult.

I think this website is a wonderful idea. I need to email it to my SIL because she hates her body after carrying 2 sets of twins.

Trina, I think most of us, at least once in a while, need to see we aren't the only ones with stretch marks, c-sections pooches, sagging breasts, you name it! I know I HATED seeing my 20yo single friends in a swimsuit after I'd had my dd, knowing that my body looked nothing like their's. We see Heidi Klum doing SI's Swimsuit edition six weeks post-partum and Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair nine months pregnant and we don't look anything like them. None of us have an airbrush artist in the bedroom or a personal trainer and chef whipping us into shape the day after giving birth. The way OUR bodies look *is* normal and I think this is a great chance for women to find one more link that binds us together...even if it is the shape of our collapsed belly buttons!:)

It reminds you of what a miracle procreation really is. I love the honesty and candidness of the subjects. ( I, too, remember when my very "inny" bellybutton became an "outty" LOL!

Yes, thank you very much for posting this. I always think I am the only one I know with certain effects from pergnancy. But you cannot see what other people have under their clothes! I would love it if someone did an article or report for MEN so that they can see what a *normal* woman's body looks like after having children! I know where I live most men want a "beach bunny". I will never be one. I wish I would have loved my body pre-children because I know realize what I had. But I am also working on loving my body post-children because that is me! Women who return to their normal shape after pregnancy are so very blessed!

That really was great to see! You're right. You really do need to be reminded that you're not the only one with "war wounds"! You look in magazines and see these famous people and models, who all got their bodies back in what seems like seconds flat and I instantly feel bad about myself! My head knows that there is TONS of airbrushing going on, but it doesn't help at that moment!

Thanks!
