Guns N' Roses

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive July 2006: Guns N' Roses
By Heaventree on Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 06:14 pm:

Ok so I was listening to the local classic rock station and a Guns N' Roses song came on.

Since when is the music of my youth considered Classic Rock?

I guess it happens to us all eventually.

By Wandilu on Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 06:24 pm:

I know what you mean!! But,what's even worse,is to browse around an antique store and see things from your childhood !!

By Missbookworm on Thursday, July 13, 2006 - 08:54 pm:

I so know what you mean!! I loved G N' R growing up and now it's considered "classic" *sigh* Think we're getting old? lol

By Karen~admin on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 07:59 am:

To hear that G N' R is now considered *classic* rock, makes me laugh. I grew up listening to classic rock....and I'm a dinosaur. LOL Although, I love all the 80's bands a LOT.

By Reds9298 on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 08:25 am:

LOL! Never thought of it that way. Love G n' R though. That brings back some memories.

By Conni on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 08:49 am:

I use too work out in my bedroom too my G'n'R CASSETTE tape. Axle was way cool.

I also remember 8 tracks in the 70's very early 80's ...

By Kaye on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 10:24 am:

Conni...you know that sounds bad right?? rofl

By Crystal915 on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 03:41 pm:

LOL, I'm 23, and LOVE G~n~R!! Still, I've noticed it's on the classic stations on XM. Strange!!

By Janet on Friday, July 14, 2006 - 04:50 pm:

To me, classic rock means Led Zepplin, The Who, Aerosmith... I would definitely NOT put 80s bands into that category! (But then, I'm old) It's like the MTV "I love the..." series. "I love the 90's?" Give me a break! How can you reminisce about something that happened only 10 years ago!
As for the antique store thing...I'm now considered "vintage," according to one place I went! AAARGH!! (Since when is the 60s and 70s considered vintage? Who do I complain to?)

By Angellew on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 09:48 am:

I still have a bit of a crush on Slash!!!!!

It's just wrong! I still think of classic rock as 60s and early 70s. But, I work next to a girl who (gulp) didn't know who Led Zeppelin was!!! She's 22 and obviously born under a rock!! hahaha She's a top 40 girl, which I can't stant! But, boy, that really made me feel old!!!! Ancient even!

By Heaventree on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 10:16 am:

Angela, that's too funny. About 10 years ago I was at work and two girls asked me what I was doing for the weekend. I said I was going to see Super Tramp. Both said "What's that?"

By Trina~moderator on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 08:42 pm:

Angela, she had never heard of Led Zeppelin?! Yikes! I am so NOT a Top 40 girl. I don't consider Bon Jovi classic rock, but I'd prefer that over Top 40 any day. LOL!

By Trina~moderator on Monday, July 17, 2006 - 08:43 pm:

Oops, did I say Bon Jovi? I meant G'n'R. LOL! Two good 80's rock bands.

By Angellew on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 10:24 am:

Bon Jovi!!!!!! frog

We had a big discussion with her the other day explaining to her the importance of Led Zeppelin and who Freddie Mercury was!!! Didn't know Queen either!!!! SAD!!!

By Trina~moderator on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 10:32 am:

OMGosh, not familiar with QUEEN?! LMBO! We're really showing our age. You know that, don't you?! JK! smileywink My kids are well versed in classic rock. In fact, DS (almost 10) recently learned how to burn CDs. A few weeks ago he said, "Mom, would you like to listen to the CD I made of all my favorite songs?" I said, "Sure!" It's now in my van, and I'm LOVING it! All kick butt classic rock songs. That's my boy! thumbsupsmiley

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, July 18, 2006 - 10:37 am:

My kids know who Queen is! When Sarah was in 6th grade, the band teacher was amazed that none of them knew who Chicago was! Well, my kids definitely both know, who Chicago is now!

By Cocoabutter on Wednesday, July 19, 2006 - 09:23 pm:

My dh thought that was funny!

We have a Bon Jovi greatest hits cd that our ds likes!
