By Trina~moderator on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 07:43 am:

Really?! Aerosmith and Boston Pops - Hmm, the two don't seem to go together for some reason. LOL! Are you going?

By Karen~admin on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 07:46 am:

WOW!!! Will it be on TV??????

By Trina~moderator on Friday, June 23, 2006 - 07:53 am:

Oh Karen, good question! I didn't think of that. I'll have to DVR it! :)

They're playing at the Tweeter Center outside of Boston the end of September in the middle of the week. So NOT a good time for me. Bummer :(

It was announced this morning on the news, but I can't find anything online yet. I guess they tried to do this a few years ago and it didn't work out but now it's apparently a go.

I don't know if I'll go. Boston is the last place I want to be on the 4th, WAY to many people and this free concert will attract even more.

Karen, most likely it will be televised locally, it usually is, but probably not nationwide.

Tyler, Perry to headline Boston's July 4th concert

BOSTON -- The Esplanade will be rocking on the Fourth of July as Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry join the Boston Pops for a nationally-televised concert.

The Boston Globe says the announcement came after David Mugar -- who oversees the city's July Fourth celebration -- expressed frustration that CBS had yet to sign a headline act for the show.

A CBS spokesman said the network was baffled by Mugar's remarks.

Boston Pops Conductor Keith Lockhart is looking forward to working with the Aerosmith stars. Lockhart says it's time that Boston's "two favorite bands" teamed up for the Fourth of July concert.

Just Steve and Joe? Not the whole band? Yes, you'd think this would have happened years ago!

As I remember this... they were booked a couple of years ago to do it (the whole band), but their equipment had been already packed and shipped to China and they didn't want to use "borrowed" instruments!!!! So, hopefully, better planning avails!
