For those who have been on cruises...

Did you buy trip insurance? If so where did you get it from, your travel agent or on your own?
We just bought some trip insurance last week from a place called insuremytrip.com. A bunch of people always talk about it on the cruise critic board. This is our 2nd cruise. Our first cruise was paid for by my parents, and they took care of the insurance and stuff. Our travel agent was honest with us, told us there is cheaper stuff (insurance)out there, cheaper then she could offer us. She gave me the list of stuff to look for etc...
It took me forever to decide which one to get. Thankfully none of us have any pre-existing conditions to worry about. I do think the trip insurance is a good idea, you just never know.
Where did you get yours from, and how did you decide?

We usually get it, but DH handles that. I *think* he went to insuremytrip.com. If I'm thinking of the correct site, there are different policies/plans you can get. We put a deposit on a cruise to the Galapagos Islands for 2007, and we had to buy trip insurance within 21 days of booking for coverage of pre existing medicals in the event we had to cancel. Normally it's not that expensive, but for this particular cruise it was.

We buy from travelex. Kids are free and it comes highly recommended on cruise critic---I did a poll a while ago.

I checked our file (Yes, DH actually makes a file on each vacation LOL) on this cruise, and we used Travelex for it. It seems to cover pretty much everything, from cancellation, accommodations, missed connections, emergency medical, evacuation, baggage, AD&D..... well worth the cost, IMO.......

My inlaws just returned from a cruise. They said if they were to go again, which they would like to, that they wouldn't buy the insurance next time. There were too many stipulations on it.

Yeah, well....having had 3 vacations ruined by hurricanes, I would NEVER go without insurance. Travelex covers quite a bit. You just have to weed through the policys.
