Camera Questions

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2006: Camera Questions
By Tink on Wednesday, June 7, 2006 - 07:55 pm:

Ok, I know we've discussed this before but I can't find anything in the archives so....we're looking at a Kodak Easyshare camera for my mother and debating between the V603 and the C340 with a printer dock. What is the purpose of a printer dock? Our current digital just uses a cable to connect to the printer and we can print straight from the camera or plug the memory card into our printer and print from that. Do we have to have a printer dock in order to print from a Kodak camera? Is the printer dock just a small photo printer?

We're looking for a simple to use, under $350 camera with good quality photos, that she can have by Saturday because they leave for Alaska on Sunday and she'd like to print out photos while on her cruise. Can you help me out?

Yes, the printer dock is just a small photo printer, I think you can print from a regular photo printer as well, but it's supposed to be a convenience thing. I could be wrong though!! I'm not a fan of photo printers, the paper and ink make it more expensive than uploading to Walmart, but I can understand her desire to print while on the ship, so the dock would be her best option. :)

Yeah, you can't beat uploading pics from home and running to Walmart an hour later to pick them up!

Printing as she goes on the ship, would be convenient, but I think it would be more expensive.

I have the printer dock, and I love it, its so convienent. It's not too expensive, I get 40 sheets of paper and a ink cartriage for $13.99. I also like it cause I can print right from home.

I print photos on my HP printer occasionally, but I *think* photos printed on inkjet printers are not as durable as *professionally* printed photos. I'm just as bad about getting photos printed from digital images as I was about getting film developed from a film camera though. I never get to it!

Karen, you should have Sarah living at your house! She doesn't let us put it off, at all! LOL!

Well Dawn, send her right over. Sounds like I could really use her help! This is one of those things I am bad at! LOL

I'm like Sarah. I have absolutely no patience when it comes to having my pics printed. When I used the 35mm I took them in to one hour as soon as I finished the roll. With digital I print as I need them, but I do burn them all to cd at the end of every month - before erasing the disc.

Thanks for the info on the printer dock.
