Anybody cross stitch?

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive June 2006: Anybody cross stitch?

I used to cross stitch quite a bit when I was younger, but haven't for a long, long time. I'd like to make an announcement type picture from Natalie's birth or something to do with her name. I haven't even been looking in the stores yet. Do any of you use online shopping or cross stitching kits and if so do you have any favorites?
TIA:)

I do, off and on. I'll take a look and see what I can find. You may have to wind up doing the unmarked cross stitch (I can't remember what it is called) using an alphabet chart in a font you like, or finding a marked cross-stitch picture/image you like and adding the name and date details at the bottom.

I used to cross stitch quite a bit...I made the kids Christmas stockings while I was pregnant with them. I also looked for a program to make images of whatever I wanted. Jewlz helped me with that and I bet she could help you too! I think she cross stitches quite a bit...I could be wrong!

I used to, and actually have a couple of projects I've been working on for a looooong time! LOL I just don't have the time to sit and do them right now, but I do enjoy it. :)

I used to love to CS. I always bought my kits in stores like Hobby lobby or michaels. Actually I taught my hubby to do stitch and he did all the birth announcements. :)

Add me to the list. I have a project that has taken me 3 years. It shouldn't be taking me that long. I like buying my kits at Joanns. I know they are online now, and they'll have some coupons off every once in a while. There is also lots of stuff online, free websites with patterns. A lot of them are alphabet patterns. You could do what Ginny said. That's what I usually do. Kinda like cutting and pasting.

Oh, and Micheals online has patterns and projects you could look at as well.

Thanks for the info everyone. I've been searching online, but have yet to find a pattern that really floats my boat. Am I picky or what?? :) I plan to go with my mom (the sewer) one night next week and look in Hobby Lobby. I have found a couple online that I'm interested in. Here's one:
