Already have the BEST summer vacation....

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive May 2006: Already have the BEST summer vacation....

Just 2 wks into now, and EVERYday has been great! As a child, I remember missing school almost instantly because I was so bored during summer. I am so happy my daughter is having the fun I always wanted as a child.

She spent the first week with her cousin spending the night a few times before they moved away. Then this week, I am babysitting the little girl up the street. They are doing a GREAT VBS that includes getting wet everyday, LOL (can it get any better?). Then they come home and play play play outside together. They get along beautifully! They both love to escape into their imaginary world and make up an adventure. Both are very good at doing this, such a treat. My child needs to read, the other girl needs to do math, so together we do both for each child for just 20min each subject. Because they both have to do it, we are actually sticking to the plan. We spent one day OUT all day long from VBS to the park, to gymnastics to church and then finally home. Twice we spent at another friends at their pool. No idea what today holds. It is the last day of VBS. I'm sure it will be another great day.

I am just so excited for my daughter that she has different friends to spend her time with during the summer.

I think the 2 months will fly with almost everyday packed full of something.

The down side is she will hate going back to school cause summer is so fun. Where when I was a kid, I couldn't wait for school to start back.

Just needed to boast about our fun summer. It feels so good to offer my child something I was unable to have when I was growing up.

How wonderful!!! My kids are still in school until the 9th and 16th of June. Being a WOHM we are limited to what we can do during the summer. But we take lots of days off and my older one watches his brother three days a week so he can make plans with his friends the other two days. It's nice that you can give your daughter what you didn't have, it is a great felling. Go ahead and boast!!!!

I am so glad to hear you and your daughter are enjoying your summer.
My kids do not get done until June 16th. Today though it was close to 90, so feels like summer is already here.

I am so glad to hear you are having such a wonderul summer! I love summer too, it is my favorite time of year. It is so nice to leave the hassle of the school year behind. I love just hanging out with my dks.

This is our first year of having a summer break and you've inspired me to really try to go all out! :) We'll have so many resources around us to keep us busy but completely unscheduled. I'm off to brainstorm up a list of all the things we can do this summer!

Have a GREAT summer!:)

I'm glad you're having a great summer! We still have 9 days of school left, so ours doesn't start for a while yet.

We get out of school on June 9th and go to South Dakota on the 10th.

Then Sarah has her nursing camp from the 18th to the 21st and on the 25th, Emily goes to horsecamp!

I am so happy for you and your dd!

Last summer was NOT a good summer for us. We tried to sell our house and it was SO STRESSFUL! But this year is going to be different!

By Dana on Saturday, May 27, 2006 - 12:43 pm:

I hope you all have as much fun as we have had. The best part of our summer is we have nothing *planned*. We are just playing it by ear.

Horse camp sounds really fun. I always thought going to a summer camp would be loads of fun. Perhaps one day for DD.

However, DH is building the monster of all swingsets in our yard, so I doubt DD will want to leave the backyard after it is built.

By now, in 2 weeks, we should be almost to De Smet, South Dakota! I can't wait!
