Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Snow day already!!!
By Kernkate on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 08:59 am:

Our kids are off school today because of snow! They are calling for at least 6 inches here in NE PA :( The ground is already covered.
Its too early for this!!!

By Bobbie~moderatr on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 10:32 am:

No way.... Way to early. We had "snow" yesterday morning, covered the roofs and laid on the grass and was gone once the sun came up.

By Dawnk777 on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 11:44 am:

Wow! I saw some flurries the other day!

By Debbie on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 12:04 pm:

Oh WOW! It is way too early for snow!

We had a hard feeze last night, it got down to 26 degrees. For Oklahoma, this is cold for this time of year. They said we haven't had a freeze this early in a long time. I hope this doesn't mean we are going to have a really cold winter!

By Crystal915 on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 12:19 pm:

I dreamt about snow last night, which is ridiculous in South FL, but I'm hearing from friends in KS that it went from unseasonably warm to very cold in almost no time. I agree, it's WAYYYY to early for snow up north, I can't remember a year with a snow day in October in NJ!

By Emily7 on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 12:24 pm:

We had snow at the beginging of the month and a few times since, although we didn't get enough to have a snow day!
I think it was the most snow we got as a first snow of the season in years.

By Ginny~moderator on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 12:41 pm:

And it's snowing here in SE PA - the Phillies/Rays World Series game was broken off mid-game last night and continued - but to when? We are supposed to have really lousy weather all day and tonight, so it may not continue until tomorrow night.

Ah well - GO PHILLIES!!!

By Colette on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 12:45 pm:

IN PA! Already! Hope it stays out of New England. We are just supposed to get rain.

By Enchens on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 01:35 pm:

I'm still waiting for cooler weather over here. It's still getting in the 90's. I just want it to cool down already! Maybe next month.

By Bellajoe on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 01:46 pm:

We have gotten a little bit of "freezing rain" yesterday and today here in NE Ohio. It's so cold! BRRR!

Sounds like a Chili kind of night to me! :)

By Tayjar on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 01:50 pm:

I love snow! I want to see pictures of your snow. We got flurries last night but that was it. DS was making bargains with the powers that be for a snow day today.

By Crystal915 on Tuesday, October 28, 2008 - 06:36 pm:

Ginny, I've been swearing since they won the division that the Phillies can't win, because it's been so long since we have won a championship for ANY Philly team, thanks the the Philly Choke. Color me embarassed, it looks like we might pull it off!!!! I'm kinda glad the game was called, because if they DO pull it off, I want to see it, and I didn't have time last night to watch!

By Momofmax on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 06:31 am:

Snow! I would love to have some snow! I can't complain about our weather because it's been wonderfully cool (40's at night and 60 - 70's during the day - great weather for New Orleans) but snow would be such a treat anytime!

By Karen~admin on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 09:28 am:

BRRRRRRRRR! The last couple nights, we've had lows in the 40's/highs in the 60's. DH is BEGGING for the heat! LOL It will start the warmup tomorrow and be back to 80 by early next week, so no heat for us. :)

Maybe we'll get another Christmas day snow this year, Jeanne???

By Kernkate on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 09:48 am:

We ended up with 8 inches of heavy wet snow on the ground...BLAH! Way to early. The kids had a 2 hour delay today.

Ginny the game is tonight right???
Go Phillies :)

By Dana on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 11:28 am:

Well, it was down right COLD here in FL today (and yesterday). BRRRRR. They say it is record breaking temps for this early in the season.

I always have costumes for hot weather, but this year my kids will be covering their costumes up with coats, if it doesn't warm up enough by then.

And I have to say GO RAYS! They are our home team! Playing in cold temps will absolutely put them at a huge disadvantage.

By Marcia on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 - 10:51 pm:

Dana, in Canada we buy costumes that fit over snowsuits. LOL Luckily it's going to be about 50* Halloween night, which will be so nice! :)

By Dana on Thursday, October 30, 2008 - 08:24 am:

Oh, Marcia, that just sent shivers down my spine!

By Kernkate on Thursday, October 30, 2008 - 10:03 am:

Its suppose to be 56 here tomorrow so I hope the snow will melt for the kids tomorrow night...But then again its suppose to be 50 today and its only 30 right now :(
Our kids will be wearing their winter jackets under their costumes!!!
