Video cameras

Moms View Message Board: General Discussion: Archive October 2008: Video cameras

We're in the market for a new videocamera and I'm just starting to look around. Which videocam do you have? What do you like/not like about it? I've not had a non-film videocam yet! Ours is a Hi-8 Sony from about 8 years ago. It's a great camera but just large!

Any suggestions/thoughts would be great. Thanks!

We have the Sony Handycam hard disk drive and love it. You don't need tapes or disc, it all goes onto a hard drive that you can watch through the TV hooked up right through the camera or you can download it to the computer and put it on DVD if you want to. We love it.

We are in the market as well, looking at the Canon Hf100....

Sarah - Have you had any trouble with how much the hard disk can store, such as has it ever not been big enough? How big is yours? Have you put most of your movies on the computer and then onto DVD? That is something we would really like to do if we went with a hard disk drive.

We've loved our old Sony Handycam, so I definitely would like to look into one again.

We also have a Sony Hard Drive, and it's been great. We don't take as much video as we did when the kids were younger, though. We took it on our cruises, and never ran out of space. I think this one holds something like 7 hours of the best quality video. It didn't seem like a lot to me, but like I said, we've never filled it.
I have burned everything to dvd, and I've also added video clips to some of the movies I've made with the "Muvee" program. I add pics, movies clips and music, and they're lots of fun to watch.
